The story of the Manjushri
Prayer is that 500 of the great scholars gathered to compose a praise to Manjushri (the deity of intelligence). Each scholar com- posed his own prayer and when they were compared they were all identical to each other. This is their prayer. Visualize: Manjushri above your head sitting in Vajra position on an 8 petaled lotus seat and moon disk. He is golden in color, holds a sword in his right hand and the stem of a lotus in his right. In the flower is a book--the Prajna- paramita. Majushris great wisdom is free of the emotional and cognitive obscurations. Just as clouds ob- scure the sun, so do the obscura- tions also cover the true nature of mind. Manjushri sees everything clearly because has the wisdom how things are and wisdom of the variety of phenomena. Possessing these two wisdoms is signified by his holding the Praj- naparamita at his heart or holding a flower with this book in its cen- ter. Manjushri loves all beings equally because they are all locked into Samsara because of their ignorance. _ :1$?-0-:)3-.L%?-G-2!.-0-$%-]-3-/ THE MAJUSHRI PRAYER The Kang-lo-ma Praise of Arya Manjushri _ ]-3-.%-3$/-0-e-24/-:)3-0:-.L%?-=- K$-:5=-= LAMADAG GOPO JETSU JAMPAYYAG LACHAG TSALLO To the guru and protector, Lord Manjushri, I prostrate. $%-$-]-P?-12-$*?-3/-V=-*-v<-i3-.$-<2- $?=-2? Now we are discussing the speech aspect. There are said to be 60 aspects of melodious speech of a Buddha. These are the 6 basic tones multi- plied by 10 different apects. The klesha of ignorance is like having no power to recognize we are dreaming when we are sleep. Manjushri with his power roars like thunder to awaken us from Samsara. Holding a sword in his right hand, he cuts away confusion and karma which slowly leads us to enlightenment. Now the attributes of Manjushris body are disucssed. Being free of delusion and ignornace from the beginning, Manjushri is an en- lightened bodhisattva. At the tenth bodhisattva level he has 32 definitive and 80 secondary qual- ities that then make up 112 qualities. :P-5$?-!/-=-2-$&$-v<-2l-;/-=$-S$-&:- .L%?-w/-$?%- DROTSOK KU LABU CHIKTAR TSE YE LAG DRUK CHUYYAG DE SUG Your speech has 60 melodious qualities. :V$-v<-(<-1$?-*/-3%?-$*.-a%-=?-G-t$?- 1$-:P=-36.-&%- DRUKTAR CHER DROG Y MOG YI LOG LE KYI CHAG DROG DROLDSE CHIG Roaring like a dragon, you awaken us from the slumber of the kle- shas, freeing us from the chains of karma. 3-<$-3/-?=-#$-2}=-M-$-)-~.-$&.-36.-<=-P- 2$3?
