Hello friends! I hope your preparation for GATE is going well.

This is a long
time after I wrote my last post. In this post, I am writing about the books
and other resources that I had followed while preparing for GATE
omputer !cience and I hope it may be useful for you also. "ost of my
notes are based on these resources and these will help you a lot if you are
referring my notes. This is not the only material to be followed for the
preparation of GATE omputer !cience. I encourage you to follow mainly
those books that you like. It#s $ust a suggesti%e list for all those who usually
ask me which books to refer for GATE E&am.
1. Mathematical Logic, Set Theory & Algebra, Combinatorics
There are mainly two books that I had referred to prepare for the abo%e
topics'
Discrete Mathematics and Its Applications by Kenneth H. Rosen
Discrete Mathematics by Seymour Lipschutz & Marc Lars Lipson
(irst book is enough for most of the topics. (or other topics that are either
missing in the first book or you want to read them from some other book to
make the concepts clear, you may use the second book.
2. Linear Algebra, erm!tation, Combination, robability, Calc!l!s
i. "or Linear Algebra, it#s ad%isable to study the matrices portion from
the#$ngineering Mathematics% book that you had studied in your ).Tech
*st year. +ou can also study my notes and then try sol%ing the problems
gi%en in the book or in pre%ious year GATE papers.
ii. "or erm!tation, Combination & robability, I would suggest you to
watch the %ideo lectures from &han Academy website. These lectures are
really %ery nice. After watching these lectures, you should try to sol%e the
problems gi%en in the *,th class mathematics book. +ou can also sol%e the
problems gi%en in the abo%e two books for -iscrete "athematics. These
are the links of the %ideo tutorials from .han Academy'
Independent and Dependent Events
Probability and Combinatorics
Random Variables and Probability Distributions
iii. "or Calc!l!s, sol%e all the e&amples gi%en in the *,th class mathematics
book. +ou don#t need to spend much time o%er this.
'. (!merical Methods
/sually one simple 0uestion is asked from this sub$ect. It would be fine if
you remember few formulas, their properties and then practice to apply
those formulas on some problems. There are $ust ,12 pages dedicated to
this portion in my notes, in which I ha%e written the formulas and their
properties. +ou should practice to applying those formulas on some simple
problems. +ou can also refer the following book for more details'
Comp!ter )ased (!merical and Statistical Techni*!es by Manish
Goyal
+. ,raph Theory
In this sub$ect, you are supposed to understand and remember all the
results 34roofs and 5emmas6. +ou can find most of those results in my
notes. (or detailed study, you can refer the following book'
,raph Theory -ith Applications to $ngineering and Comp!ter
Science by(arsingh Deo
7hile studying, I recommend you to create the notes from whate%er you
ha%e studied. It will help you later in re%ising.
4!' This is the end of the first part of my post on 8)ooks and 9esources for
GATE omputer !cience:. I will write the ne&t part of this post within one
week. 4lease keep checking my blog or like my page to get update about
my ne&t post. Thanks for gi%ing your time in reading this post.
