want to a!! one bor!er in a particular area o, your Hea!er0 even
though you can use it as I have speci,ie!%
That;s why it;s important ,or you to know how to !o this as the
;De,ault; settings only give you so many choices an! sometimes you
may want something that looks a little !i,,erent than those%
:kay0 moving ,orwar!%%%
When we set this parameter0 we tell :pen:,,ice Writer where we want
our bor!ers to be within the Hea!er0 an! these will be place!
throughout every page in our entire te6t !ocument%
"est part is0 we only have to set this one time% 3n! i, we want to make
any changes0 it will also !istribute those changes throughout our entire
te6t !ocument with ?ust a ,ew simple clicks% Don;t you ?ust love the
;$aragrap#22; win!owD
The ne6t couple things we must set is the si&e0 or thickness o, our
bor!er lines0 an! what color we want them to be% -or our bor!er0 we;re
going to select the smallest0 or thinnest0 line si&e o, *%*4 as you can
see below#
3s you can see0 there are several bor!er line options available to you0
an! you can choose any one o, the settings liste! in the ;7tyle; section%
"ut ,or the purposes o, this <uick !emonstration0 I;m going to stick
with the very ,irst option% 3n! that is the thinnest bor!er line setting
option available%
3,ter we have our bor!er line si&e set0 it;s time to choose a color%
The image below !isplays where you select your bor!er line color#
I;m sticking with "lack ,or this e6ample0 but you can le,t click on the
;!own arrow; on the ;9olor; setting to see more colors you can choose
,rom%
3ny color you select will set the color ,or all your bor!ers%
3lso0 you coul! even a!! a sha!ow behin! your bor!er lines i, you
wante! to% You can !o that by clicking any one o, the E options within
the ;7ha!ow style; area shown above%
Even though there are 4 options0 the ,irst one is a ;no sha!ow; setting0
that;s why I say you have E other options to choose ,rom% Those
a!!itional E will place a sha!ow behin! your bor!er lines%
Then you can set the color o, your sha!ow as well ,rom the ;9olor;
!rop !own menu also shown above% 3s well as the !istance your
sha!ow e,,ect will be ,rom your bor!er lines% 3n! that can be set
insi!e the ;Distance; area%
:nce you;re all !one with the settings0 simply hit the ;(B; button% You
will then see all the changes you;ve ma!e appear insi!e your Hea!er%
It;s important to remember that to make any change stick0 you;ll nee!
to hit the ;:K; button when ,inishe!%

!own the le,t mouse button an! !ragging across the te6t0 an! once
the te6t is highlighte!0 le,t clicking the ,ollowing button an! select a

In our e6ample0 we !i!n;t use any type o, table to separate our page
number ,rom our ebook title te6t0 so instea!0 we;re ?ust going to a!!
some space in between where our ebook title te6t sets an! where we
will place our page numbering system% We;ll !o that by simply hitting
our space bar on the keyboar! until we ,eel there;s enough space in
between our ) Hea!er elements%
Then0 a,ter we have ample space0 it;s time to slap in our page
numbering system% To !o this0 you will nee! to select# ;Insert; ,rom the
main tool bar menu by le,t clicking it once%
When the ne6t menu appears0 select ;-iel!s;%
Then you will see yet another menu o,, to the right han! si!e% -rom
that menu0 select# ;Page @umber;%
Then you shoul! see the ,ollowing new element insi!e your Hea!er#
That is your page number ,iel!% 3n! it will number every single page
automatically insi!e your te6t !ocument0 or ebook0 or special report0 or
whatever you;re creating O'I%

through the layers menu#
