Option Run Game
Snap count, keep it simple so kids arent thinking about it
o First sound, QB can say anything
Check would be easy, easy way before he gets hands under center
o On two repeat whole cadence

First cadence the right will go back and set in wishbone
Second cadence the left will go back set in wishbone
Good to go for a play if you have set it up
Motions
o Motion back will line up opposite of formation call
o WB Outside foot always up
When motioning push off outside foot inside foot goes full speed at heels of
fullback
Only looking to gain step and a half to get them full speed
o Rocket Motion
Rocket helps the option game by eliminating stunts and blitzes
Leave at same time but slow down cadence
He should get past FB by snap
Want to catch is on inside leg of the tackle
o Insert motion
Used for midline and counter lead
First 3 or 4 steps should be exactly like triple
Once gets to 3
rd
step he plants and leads through the gap
Inserts B gap and blocks first wrong color
o Twirl Motion
Counter motion
On snap of ball plant off outside foot and get pitch relationship
Good with Trips
o Rip/Liz
Jet motion
Will run jet sweep or get into trips

For Inside WRs out of trips
Take number 2 WR and make him Pitch
Twirl but for #2
o Lead
Used out of midline
When he gets to B backs heels then straight down into hole
Can also use it as an iso play for FB

Formations
o Goal is spread the field and make them cover whole field
o Gain numbers advantage
o Goal is to dictate the defensive formation and get your count

Move slot up to TE and WR back
Used to get better look up front

WB comes over and split the difference between WB and WR

Can run both sides

Understanding Read Key
o Can Do 6 Things
o B Stunt
Not blocked so he can fly down to take the dive
o Squeeze the Tackle-Pad under Pad
Knock the FB
o Mesh Charge-FB hip to QB
Comes at you not the FB
Read his eyes and hell take you where hes going
Looking at you hes coming for you
o Squat-take both dive and QB
Give it
As it keeps happening,
o Down the line player-hand squeeze for dive
o Q Stunt-take the QB
o Read keys eyes will always tell you where hes going
o Will improve as the game goes on
Typical Stunts
o B-Stunt-1 is coming hard to take the dive
o Blood Stunt-1 and 2 are coming hard to take the dive and QB
Make sure ready for that one
Alerted by the dynamite call
o Easy Stunt-Mesh stunt where 1 and 2 switch responsibilities
Mostly comes out of stack position
o Q Stunt-1 or 2 coming hard for the QB
o Lightning Stunt-2 and 3 are switching responsibilities
Line Terms
o Ace-double together, normally C and G
o Deuce-double team between G and T
Zone Combo Blocks
o Always give the ball to FB
o Two O-line track one lineman and one backer
o Secure down man first then to the next level
o Players must get hip to hip
o Drive linemen to backer, dont come off of linemen to backer, hell come to you
Each option has series of plays to play off of defensive adjustments
