INFORMATION SYSTEMS DELIVERABLE 2
INTRODUCTION
Every individual has an idea about what the perfect body image is. A large number of
individuals work very hard to achieve their desired body image however different bodies
will react and behave differently to others because of many factors such as genetics,
lifestyle, eating habits gender and many more. Therefore not everybody can achieve the
socially desired body image. Some push themselves to the extent of starvation and
excessive exercise which can further lead to major physical and mental effects on people
and can even lead to death. This is a major problem which must be resolved and we may
have found a solution.
3. BUSINESS SECTION
3.1 Vision
Our vision is to create an application that shows each individual person a body image which
is suitable for a person with similar lifestyles, gender and ethnicity to allow people to reach
their optimum body shapes which would increase people being happy with their body
images resulting in a decrease in body image related depression and death.
3.2 Industry Analysis: Health and Fitness Application Industry
Industry: Health and Fitness Application Industry.
Force: High/Low: Justification:
Buyer power: High There are well over 5000 medical, health and
fitness applications available on smartphones
(MobiHealthNews, 2014)
Supplier power: Low There are many places where we can get the
neccesary components to make and deliver the
application (Dell, 2014)
Threat of new entrants: High Anybody can make and market their own
application because of the amount of hardware
and software being readiliy available to people.

3

3
(Appmachine,2014)
Threat of substitutes: High There are a number of substitutes to a mobile
health and fitness application such as joining a
gym or using physiotherapy services.
(JMTM,2014)
Rivalry among existing
competitors:
High There are well over 5000 health and fitness
applications which indicate that there is a high
amount of rivalry amoung existing competitors.
(MobiHealthNews, 2014)
Overall attractiveness of the industry: The industry does not look very attractive looking at
the idustry analysis with buyer power and threat of substitute product being high. However
I believe that our product has got a number of features that does not exist in the current
market which give us a cometitive advantage over other existing competitors in the industry
3.3 Customers and Their Needs
Hundreds and thousands of people in New Zealand and millions of people in the world have
at any one stage of their lives been unhappy with their body images. Customers need to be
able to see if their bodies are in healthy or not relating to their lifestyles. This will enable
customers to reinsure themselves that yes they are in the normal body mass range or if
some improvements need to be made.
3.4 The Product and Service
Our application is going to provide a service whereby the customer will input all his
information such as gender, ethnicity, age and basic lifestyle information such how much
spare time a person has and what the surrounding environment is. The application will then
access the body mass index database whereby it will retrieve information based on the
information put in. The application will then use all the information and construct a body
shape. The customer will then scan its body using their smartphone cameras and see how
well they fit together. The application will then give you a number of solutions if parts of the
body do not fit well.
3.5 Suppliers and Partners

4
In order to create and run our application, we are going to need to get computer hardware
and software, which can be acquired from a number of places such as Dell. We may also
need to partner up with dietitians and fitness instructors for a number of reasons such as to
keep up to date with all changes and breakthroughs made if there is advancements on ways
to enhance exercises in order to get any type of body into a better healthier shape. We
would also need them to set and update the body mass indexs allowing our application to
produce more accurate shapes.
3.6 Strategy: Cost Leadership
We are creating this application and targeting everybody that has got a smartphone. Our
vision is to decrease the number of people that are unhappy with their body images which
would decrease the rate of depression and rate of depression related deaths therefore we
also intend to sell the application for less than one dollar. Therefore our strategy is cost
leadership
3.7 Value Chain Acti vi ty: Service After Sale
The most important value chain activity for this business is Service after sale
Due to a high number of other applications available in the current market we must ensure
that the user experience is adequate enough to retain our customers. This will be achieved
through various systems put in place such as customer feedback systems and customer
complaint systems so that we can aid and make improvement to our product to maximize
customer retention as well as attract new customers to maximize our profits.
3.8 Business Processes
Customer Service and Feedback Process- this process is put in place to ensure that our
customers are satisfied and if they do encounter difficulty using the application then our
customer service team is there to aid them. This system also takes feedback from customers
then gets transferred to our development and maintenance department.

3.10 Systems

Customer Service and Feedback System-This system is set in place so that as soon our
customers encounter difficulty using the application, they can call our customer service
center and give feedback. We must attend to them as soon as possible and fix the problem
otherwise we will lose customers as they will simply change and use a different product
instead of our product.
Application Maintenance and Development System- This system is set in place so that as
soon as we receive feedback from our customers our Customer Service Team filters and
sends the information to our Research and Development Team so that they can quickly view
and analyse what the customers needs are. They can then try to implement improvements
to our product in order to fit our customers needs and send updates to our customers so
that we can keep our customers happy and retain them.
Marketing Analysis System- this system is set in place so that we can monitor and analyse
what kind of people purchase our product in terms of what other applications they
purchase. This can help us as we can then focus on advertising in places where it will be
most effective. This will also aid us to develop more application and expand our business in
conjunction to our current application

CONCLUSION
Our vision is to show people their normal body image based on their lifestyles, genetics and
gender. Information systems deliver value by allowing us to make an application that can be
used by our customers in order to show them their body shapes in line with their personal
information. This will then allow society to move forward from trying to achieve improbable
socially desired body images to their own body images that they can truly achieve.
