Im Javed Iqbal ( M.Phil Linguistics candidate). Currently, I am conducting a study on the
following topic:
Identifying the Utility of Reading Strategies used by EFL
Preparatory Year Interactants: A Case Study
Reading strategies play a very significant role in developing, improving and polishing the
reading skill which is at the heart of the PYP English Language Curriculum because students are
going to face the academic texts through the medium of English in their undergraduate courses.
However different researchers have noticed and proved that most of the interactants at PYP
dont fully exploit the reading strategies to comprehend the texts because they are not aware of
the significance, utility and effectiveness of Reading Strategies. Hence, this study will focus on
determining the significance, utility and effectiveness of reading strategies for Saudi EFL
learners in PYP classrooms.
