Learning Outcome:
3. Research developing trends in new and emerging technologies and critically reflect on their potential impact on
specialist area and career path.

Description:
This assignment consists of a recorded PROGRAMME, accompanied by written SUPPORT MATERIALS,
both of which you which you will deliver during a live in-class PRESENTATION. [See “New/Emerging
Technologies Presentation Description”, under separate cover, for a complete description of processes and
expectations.]
In essence, you’re giving a seminar about New or Emerging Technologies – via smartphone – uploaded to
the web – packaged by you in the most fun or interesting or imaginative way you’d like to do it.
Note:
1. Your presentation must be recorded with your smart phone, and edited using either the phone’s
software or one of several online editing platforms.
2. You must have a version of the presentation available on flash drive as a backup for presentation.

Marking Criteria:
> PROGRAMME
1. Create a 5-minute program using a smart phone about an appropriate New or Emerging
Technology, and make it available for presentation on YouTube on the assigned date. (10%)
2. Clearly explain your Technology's functionality and explore ways it does or could make a
difference to your specialist field. (10%)
3. Include at least one visual example of your Technology. (5%)
4. Offer informed speculation about how you may be using your Technology in 5 years. (5%)
5. Reflect on new understanding you have gained about current and future ways to practice your
craft. (15%)

> PRESENTATION
6. Deliver, in your Presentation, a brief description of the production process used to create your
Programme. (10%)
7. Create a presentation which is well-structured, is clear and is engagingly delivered. (15%)

> SUPPORT DOCUMENTS
8. Publish the required support documents on your Vox Blog - including: a Synopsis; a Script (or
Storyboards); and a short description of the production process. (15%)
9. Critically reflect - in your Vox blog - on the value that creating this presentation has provided for
you as regards your future and the future of your craft. (15%)
