TestComplete 10 Beta Summary

TestComplete 10 is a new major release that introduces a number of significant new features,
most importantly a new TestComplete platform for mobile testing. This Beta includes support for
native applications on Android 4.x devices. Support for iOS is going to be available in the Beta
form later this year. Mobile Web applications can be tested using desktop browser emulation,
with exact screen sizes corresponding to specific devices. In addition, TC10 Beta includes
support for:
Mobile browser emulation for testing mobile web applications
Modern UI applications running on Windows 8.1
Windows 8.1
Visual Studio 2013
Updates for third party control support
Android Testing
Testing of Android native applications is built into TestComplete with exact same capabilities as
desktop testing, using devices tethered via USB. TestComplete provides a virtual device
desktop for the user to interact with the device while creating or running tests. The
TestComplete virtual device desktop can manage more than one connected device, one at a
time.
With the beta release, you are able to script tests in all languages supported by TestComplete
including VBScript and JScript, or using Keyword Driven Test editor. TC10 Beta support full
object access to the tested application that is instrumented, as well as image-based testing of
general Android system applications and dialogs when needed. You get to use the standard
TestComplete productivity features and capabilities, such as Visualizer, automatic screenshots
in the test logs, Object Finder, name mapping, wizards for data-driven testing, and object-based
checkpoints. Additionally, we have a very cool capability to record and replay multi-touch
gestures directly from devices.
These object-based test capabilities provide you with a versatile platform to create reusable
tests for a variety of Android devices, to cover the required breadth for device fragmentation
testing.
Mobile tests are fully interoperable with desktop and Web application tests, to give you a unified
environment for testing any complex system with Web or Mobile clients.
Mobile Web Testing
With TestComplete 10, you can test your web applications and web sites for cross-platform
mobile browser compatibility without needing the actual mobile devices. You can record mobile
web tests on your desktop computer using a mobile browser emulator based on Google
Chrome, and play back the tests against different mobile browser profiles using the same
emulator.
TestComplete includes predefined mobile browser profiles for Apple iPhone, iPad, Samsung
Galaxy, Nokia Lumia and Blackberry devices. You can define additional mobile browser profiles
with different screen sizes, orientations and user agents to better match your target mobile
audience.
Testing Modern UI Applications
TestComplete 10 introduces support for testing Modern UI applications. You can record, script,
and playback tests for these applications on Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2.
Windows 8.1 and Visual Studio 2013 RC Support
TestComplete 10 Beta fully supports the recently released Windows 8.1. We have tested
TestComplete 10 against Visual Studio 2013 RC (release candidate) and all VS2013
applications are supported.
Web Application Testing and Browser Support
Apache Flex is a mainstream Web technology that is still broadly used within the industry to
build state of the art Web UIs. TestComplete 10 adds support for Flex and Flash applications in
Google Chrome, which is now the #1 browser worldwide, Opera and Apple Safari. We have also
enhanced setup of test environment for Flex by adding automatic FlashInjector installation and
easier configuration of Flash Player trusted locations.
The Beta also includes updated browser support with latest Chrome and Firefox versions, as
well as Opera 15-17.
Automatic FlashInjector installation. You can now quickly install TestCompletes Flash and
Flex testing module, FlashInjector, into Flash Player directly from TestComplete UI. Also, a
project setting was added to automatically install FlashInjector at the beginning of the test run.
Easier configuring Flash Player trusted locations. You can now specify trusted files and
folders for Flash Player in your test project settings. TestComplete adds them to Flash Player
trusted locations when FlashInjector is installed from tests or the TestComplete UI.

Extended Support for Third-Party Controls
TestComplete 10 adds support for the recent releases of popular third-party UI libraries and
controls:
! Syncfusion Essential Studio ver. 11.3.0.30.
! Telerik RadControls for WinForms 2013.2 (Q2 2013).
