To suggest ways of improving the fresh graduate performance

Apart from imparting the knowledge from the textbook, the graduates should be exposed to
the industry. In this context, it is worth to bring the industry practitioner to the classroom.
Guest lecturer and seminar with involvement from the industry is vital to assists the graduates
to improve their critical thinking skills. Engaged industry partners to be part time lecturer of
which the sharing of industry knowledge will happen in the classroom context.
It is also very important to inculcate a positive attitude which would assist them to be more
independent and proactive when they leave the university. Graduates with positive attitude
and who are proactive performed better at work place, thus, creating a pool of first class
human capital.
The university should find ways on how to improve the graduates thinking skills, their
communication skills and professional skills, by improving the compulsory subjects that need
to be taken by the students.
What fresh graduates lack is experience, hence they must make up for in enthusiasm and
being motivated, which many experts believe can be more important than experience. There
is a believe that interest combined with enthusiasm ignites a passion which is sometimes hard
to find. And the passion results in seemingly more interest to learn and apply.

Young graduates must be ready to be taught the way the company believes is most
advantageous to its operations. There have been many success stories of management trainee
programmes which resulted in hi-potential leaders who are aligned to the company values as
well as strong brand ambassadors.

New ideas often spring from recent graduates. The fresh graduates are also a breed that is
fairly different, they are of a new generation and hence there is a need for the fresh graduates
to be ready with new ideas.
Fresh graduates must be ready to learning and upgrading their skills as opposed to many
long-time employees, who may or may not be following a continuing education programme
for self development to up-skill themselves.

Since most recent graduates are younger people, they must have strong willingness to get the
job done and to excel. They must be able to process new information by the technique
possessed and internalising data in a meaningful way.

Besides, the organisations should give serious consideration to hiring fresh university
graduates. Employing fresh university graduates can most surely give an organisation a good
balance between enthusiasm of the young and experience of a veteran. There is a need to look
for experienced person to be hired in the company, but if the company itself do not provide
any vacancy to the fresh graduates, then where else would they find the experience in the job
field itself. In order to improve the performance of the fresh graduate itself, it does not only
involving what is needed from them, but also from the working industry itself.
