ALFRED PISANI
FOUNDER & CHAIRMAN
CORINTHIA HOTELS
A
round ffty years ago, my family and I started
the Corinthia enterprise as a fne-dining restaurant
on the Mediterranean island of Malta, our home. We have
since evolved into a multinational family of luxury hotels.
And yet, as we continue to extend our interests and scale
new heights, we remain true to our roots as a family
business. We are determined to provide personal, intuitive
service. At the core of this determination is our devotion
to craftsmanship. We are inspired by dedicated craftsmen
such as the stonemason, master carpenter and maestro
musician. Like them, we always do more than is strictly
necessary. We keep going until we have transformed the
mundane into the magical. Within our hotels, we craft an
environment that makes our guests feel special the moment
they arrive. We surround them with costly materials chosen
for their quiet quality rather than glitzy glamour. We never
compromise on the quality of our end product, whether
it is a crisply ironed shirt or a genuinely warm welcome.
In a world of mass-produced experiences, we ofer the
made-to-measure. True craftsmanship is always bespoke.
WELCOME TO
OUR FAMILY

DIFFERENT DESTINATIONS,
THE SAME SPIRIT
CORINTHIA.COM
Wherever guests travel within the world of Corinthia,
they will arrive at the same satisfying conclusion: we care.
THE CRAFTSMANSHIP OF CARE
At Corinthia we believe that
craftsmanship applies to more than
merely making beautiful places and
objects it also applies to the way
we make guests feel at home.
Our craft is care.
CRAFTING THE PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
Our public areas and guestrooms
are created by craftspeople to
uncompromisingly high standards.
At Corinthia London, for example,
our designer personally visited an
Italian quarry to select white Calacatta
marble of the desired shade and veining.
Troughout the Corinthia family, this
emphasis on craftsmanship, rather than
superfcial ostentation, gives our hotels
an ambiance of understated opulence.
It helps that we are generous with space.
Our rooms and suites are generally
larger than the norm.
CRAFTING THE HUMAN TOUCH
As caring people, we provide warm,
personal service. As craftspeople we
believe in precision. An in-room dining
bottle of champagne will arrive on
time, chilled to precisely the correct
temperature. Equally, we leave room for
passion. Te Concierge at a Corinthia
hotel is more than a person who books
tickets for restaurants and excursions.
With insight and enthusiasm, he or she
will take a personal interest in making
sure guests make the most of their stay.
CRAFTING CORINTHIAS CUISINE
Our restaurants serve authentic,
seasonal dishes with pure, natural
favours. To confrm the provenance
and quality of their major ingredients,
our chefs visit farms and fsheries
and discuss their precise needs with
producers. Wherever possible, we
procure local produce from artisanal
suppliers and we make sure that all our
seafood is sustainably sourced. In many
restaurants, the menu names each
supplier, such as the local baker, country
cheese-maker or regional smokery.

With hot and dry summers and

and autumn.
The average temperature in
spring and autumn is between
20-25C/68-77F.
Tripoli remains a fascinating destination. Untouched by the modern
world, with a vast concentration of history and cultures, the city is an
oasis of mystery waiting to be discovered.
Cocooned within the old walled city, the narrow whitewashed alleys are lined with bustling
market stalls selling leather goods, intricate jewellery and handcrafted copper, brass and silverware.
Te ancient city is also crammed with elaborate mosques and dotted with traditional dwellings
dating back to the Ottoman period. Te main hammam is a classic example of a traditional
Roman-Byzantine bathhouse, while the many tailors, jewellers, perfumeries, tanners and
soap-makers still trading in the tiny souks produce their wares in surroundings that have
changed little in 500 years.
It is the breadth of Tripolis historical monuments that make this a unique destination. Tese
include the ancient Roman sites of Sabratha and Leptis Magna, the wonders of the desert, the
Green Mountain and Ghadames, the pearl of the desert, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Te exotic capital of Sudan stands at the confuence of the Blue and
White Nile Rivers, amidst a tropical terrain of rain forests, mountains,
waterfalls and deserts.
Khartoum has intrigued explorers since the days of Dr Livingstone. Today, the bustling city
is the gateway to Central Africa and a convenient tourist base. Nile cruises, mountaineering,
scuba-diving, nomadic excursions and camel-riding are all possible and the mysteries of
Egypt, Cairo and the Sahara are tantalisingly close.
In the city itself, there are ancient mosques and churches, botanical gardens, a fascinating camel
market and a rambling souk spread over several squares. Ebony carvings, necklaces, bracelets,
beads, gold and silver jewellery, clay pots, baskets and speciality food and spices are all on display.
Haggling is essential. Te Palace Museum, next to the Presidential Palace on Blue Nile Street,
has a remarkable collection of antique luxury cars used by Sudanese and British dignitaries,
including Queen Elizabeth II during her 1965 visit to the city.
