METHODOLOGY
Research %esi+n
3epending upon the objective of the research the most suitable research design is
45xploratory $esearch6 wherein we have explored the sanitation and health of the workers in
the construction site%
%ata Collection
All the information will be collected first hand and no secondary data will be used% 7e went
to the "anager1 &hief "anagers and both the permanent and construction workers of and
took a structured as well as direct interview and the verbal responses to the 8uestions were
recorded%

has also hypotheses1 so according to us this method is best suited for our purpose% 7e went to
respective authority to collect different information of the subject which we have
selected% The purpose of exploratory research is to extract new insight into the problem%
#ield (ork
7e divided the work into zones of permanent and contractual workers and then took direct

#asically there are two types of data which are used in marketing research process
Primary Data
The methods of collecting primary data are as follows1
A: 2bservation #: ;nterview
;nterview is one of the chief means of collecting data in research process% ;nterview may be
defined as a systematic conversation initiated for a specific purpose and focus on certain
4
planned content areas% ;t is not a simple two<way conversation between an investigator and
an informant%
Surveys
There are three main types of surveys1 depending upon the method of data gathering used:
personal interview surveys1 telephone surveys and mail surveys%
Advantages of survey
=ollowing are the main advantages of mail surveys:
*% 7ider 3istribution
(% ,ess 3istribution #ias
>% Thoughtful $eply
*'M'$A$'"S "# S$,%-
5very study conducted may have certain shortcomings and unfortunately ours is also a
similar case% A few errors have crept in despite our best effort to avoid them but it is expected
that still our study and findings are very much relevant%
An error may have been due to the samples taken not conforming to the
actual population? this is because the sample is a convenience sample%
Personal bias or personal error of the interviewer might also have crept in some cases1
while interpreting the respondents%
&ertain 8uestions which are not properly responded by the respondents%
Some of the respondents have not responded totally%
#iases might have crept up on the part of the management while giving answers%
Absolute sanctity of data can be a cause of concern as many respondents
didn@t ponder much over giving points1 ranks etc%
AA*-S'S
$esearch design1 sample design field works are undertaken solely for the purpose
of obtaining data that when tabulated and analysed1 will yield the needed information%
Analysis of data is therefore done by the use of statistical distribution construction of diagram
and calculating sample measure like percentage1 ranking etc%1 to lead to finding and
suggestions%
Structured Auestionnaire was selected as the tool for data collection which included a set of
various types of 8uestions concerning different aspects of the subjects for the study% Several
5
types of 8uestion were included in the 8uestionnaire such as open end 8uestions1 dichotomous
8uestions1 and multiple choice 8uestions%
Personal interview
This method was also used to collect data% This had helped to collect valuable information
from the company employees%
Collection o. data
All the customers were approached on individually by the research 8uestion were asked to the
employees and information was collected 8uestions were explained so as to avoid ambiguity%
The employees were found to be co<operative%
Sources o. data collection
The data used for this study are both primary and secondary data% The source of primary data
is the field where researcher had collected a fresh first<hand information or data from the
managers% Secondary data is also known as documentary data% Secondary sources are those
which already been passed through statistical process%
