REPENTANCE

1. What does it mean to repent?

To repent means to acknowledge your sins and to turn back to God, for Him to clean you
from your sins. The best example of repentance is the story of the lost (prodigal) Son. We
went away from our Father and need to come back and reconcile with him. We must
approach him in the away that the lost son did. Luk.15.11-24; Hos.5.15; 6.1-2;
1Cor.6.10-11;

ACCEPTING JESUS AS SAVIOR

2. What does it mean to accept Jesus as savoir?

Accepting Jesus as savoir is to acknowledge that he died in your place as a substitute
because of your sins. This is a gift and it’s free you only have to believe and confess.
Rom.3.12.26; Rom.10.8-10; 2Cor.5.21 This puts you back to the state that Adam and
Eve was before they fall. This basically put you in right standing with God. The problem
with of staying in this state is that the devil will tempt you, and that you will fall like
Adam and Eve did. This is why you must go further and accept him also as your Lord,
which is not free but comes with a cost.

ACCEPTING JESUS AS LORD

3. What must you do before building a house or tower, what will happen if you start
to build without doing that?

You must first count the cost, if you start to build without counting the cost it may cost
more that you expected and you may not be able to complete it and people will laugh at
you, this person started something s/he cannot finished. Luk.14.28-33

4. What does this example tell us about following Christ and what will happen if you
start to follow Christ without counting the cost?

You must first count the cost to follow Jesus before you start to follow him if you don’t
count the cost it may cost more than you expected and you may not finish the race and
people will laugh at you saying look this person repent but backslide. All those who have
backslide made this mistake. How can you count the cost if you don’t know what the cost
consist? What does the cost of accepting Christ as Lord consists? (Luk.14.28-33)
5. What is the cost to follow Jesus? Luke 14.25-33

The cost to follow Jesus consist of the following, your body, (Rom.12.1-2), your
possessions, (Mark 10.21), your loved ones, (Luk.14.26; Gen.22.2), your talent and
gifts, your work (Luk.5.27-28), your place of residence, (Gen.12.1), your traditions
(Circumcision), your nationality (Phl.3.20; 2Cor.5.20), your tribal identity (tribe of
Benjamin) Gal.3.28, your denomination (Pharisee). (Phil.3.4-8). If one of the above
listed things are not surrendered to God than the Holy Spirit will not lead and guide you.
With God it’s all or nothing. (Luk.14.33)

6. How do you pay the cost?

You take a conscious decision in your heart that you give up everything to God and you
say this with your mouth. This does not mean that you have to give your possessions to
the pastor or to the church per se, but it means that you transfer ownership and control of
you and what you have to God. God will test you to see that you meant what you said one
way or the other. Rom.10.8-10

7. Can you know the truth without total surrender?

With God it’s all or nothing. (Luk.14.33). The word “disciple” means a student or
learner, which means that if Jesus says that if you do not give up everything u cannot be
his disciple; he means you cannot be his student and if you are not his student you cannot
learn from him. And if you cannot learn from him you cannot know the truth. If you
don’t know the truth you cannot make disciple. You must have been his disciple before
you can make disciples yourself. If you have not qualify to be his disciple, how can you
make disciples and if you have not learn the truth from him, what truth are you teaching
your disciples or students and since you didn’t get it from Jesus where is your truth
coming from. If your truth is not from Jesus and it is automatically from Satan. All these
that have not qualified to be his disciples and are busy making disciples are busy making
disciples of Satan and is teaching his doctrines. Many think that going to seminaries;
universities or other Christian education establishments qualify them to make disciples.
This is not in the bible; it’s a man rule and tradition that Jesus was talking about. (Mark
7.6-9)

8. What is one of the major benefits of giving your body as a living sacrifice?

We get to know the plan of God for our lives when we give our bodies as living
sacrifices. God has a plan and has prepared each person’s work before we were even
born. We get to know about his plan and our work only when we totally surrender to him.
We may know what our talent or gift is but how God wants us to use it can only be
known after we have totally surrendered to him. (Jer.29.11; Eph.2.10; Rom.12.1-2)

9. Why do we have to go through the wilderness?

The same way that the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness you will also led by Holy
Spirit into the wilderness to be prepared for service or ministry Psm.25.12; for your faith
to be build up Deut.8.2-4; for Character development; Rom.5.3-5; for sanctification and
cleansing. Ish.48.10; 1Pet.1.6-7; Psm.105.19; Heb.2.10

10. What is the general and what is the specific purpose of a believer?

The general Matt.28.19-20 purpose of every Christian is to make disciples or help

reconcile God and man; the specific purpose of every Christian is to use his gifts and
talent to make disciples. The same way that all the people in a transport company do not
transport good, but do different task that contribute to the overall goal of transporting of
goods. Some will contribute directly to disciple making while others will contribute
indirectly. (Rom.11.19; 12.6-8)

11. Why does God need our bodies as living sacrifices?

God needs our bodies to do his work through us by what we say and do like he did
through Jesus and Paul. John.12.1; Rom. 15.18

12. If you offer your body to Christ through God what happens to you?

You die and God starts to live in and through you. Because you are dead and your body
belongs to God, everything that body works for belongs to God, money included. Jesus
can only use you, where he wants, when he wants and how he wants, when you have died
and have no agenda of your own, but only his agenda Gal. 2.20

13. Was the command to sell everything or leaving behind everything only for the
young rich man and apostles or is it for us to?

This commandment was given to all of us. Here God repeated the some commandment to
all of us. Luk.12. 22-34.

14. What was the reaction of the first Christians to this command?

Some sold everything they had and brought the money to the apostles. Act. 2.44 -45

15. Did everyone sell all his or her possessions?

No, those that did not sell their possessions did not count their possessions as their own
but equally shared it with fellow believers. Act 4.32

16. How will you know whether to sell all your possession or just share it equally
with fellow believers?
Jesus himself will tell you what to do through the Holy Spirit in you? Please note that I
said through the Holy Spirit in side you, not through a prophet, pastor or any other
person. If a person is used, he must only confirm what God has already told you
personally. Matt. 19.21

17. Why must we come together as a church?

We must come together as a church to show its other love by sharing the gifts that God
has entrusted to us. The primary reason of coming to the church must be to give to others
that which you have been blessed with and automatically you will also receive what
others have to offer that you need. Love must motive everything that a believer does.
Otherwise it is in fine. Heb.10.24-25; 1Cor.13.1-3; 1John 3.17; James 2.14-17; 1Pet.4.10;
1Cor.14.26

18. What is the one and only commandment for the Christian?

Love each other as Jesus loves us. God has not only given us the commandment but the
love and the strength to obey. He is actually the one that loves through us; we must only
allow him to. John 13.34; Rom. 13.8-10; Rom.5.5; 1Pet.4.11

19. What proves to you that you have truly accepted to follow Jesus as your lord?

When nothing else matters to you accept the will of God for your life, which you receive
when you have totally surrendered. When you are prepared to sacrifice that which you
love most for the will of God, even your own life. Matt. 13.44 – 45; Act 20.24;
Gen.22.1-2

20. What is the promise to these that left (sacrifice) families, homes, possessions,
jobs and other things to follow Jesus?

They will receive hundred fold of everything they have left (sacrificed), families, homes,
possessions and so on, with persecution. This does not mean that they will own hundred
times what they have left, but that they will have access to the things that true Christians
have avail to share equally with their fellow believers. Mark 10.29-30

21. Is the above mentioned things rewards?

God does not reward us here on earth, he only provide us with what we need to
accomplish our assignment/ministry. Rewards will be given in heaven. 2Cor.9.12; Matt
5.12

22. What does a true Christian have that the world doesn’t have?

Peace, Jesus suffered that we might have peace. (Ish.53.5; luk.22.44; 26.38; phil.4.7;
Col.3.15). The primary thing that the whole world and every person are looking for
is peace. The reason people are looking for lots of finances, good health, and good
relationships are to have peace. When one of these things lack there cannot be peace of
mind or peace of heart. But the believers have the promise that despite of the financial,
health or relationship circumstances they will have peace of mind and peace of heart.
That’s why the bible says peace that surpasses understanding. The unbeliever must look
at the believer and wonder how they can be so peaceful or be so full of peace despite their
lack of finances, health or good relationship or whatever problem. This must draw them
to Christ.
