Today our focus is on shooting, and how to correctly shoot an object.
Middle (IWY) I Do Direct Instruction (5 minute limit) I will instruct how to properly shoot an object to students from their gym spots. Students will cue me three times. We Do - Guided Practice Students will practice shooting technique on my cues in their gym spots. Stance, Elbow, Follow-Through. Teacher will . . . Student will . . . CFU I do (5 minute limit):
Teacher will walk through a demonstration of how to properly shoot objects using our basketball shooting technique. Students will cue me three times
I do:
Students are sitting in ready position at their gym spot cuing me to shoot three times and learning how to shoot an object
We do (guided practice):
Now teacher will have students stand at their gym spot and together will we practice our shooting fundamentals three times. Teacher will walk around and check each student's technique and correct those if necessary Teacher will then begin to explain their activity Just like in locomotor lines, the first person will stand in front of their hoop, when I say go, students will use stance, elbow, follow-through with the provided bean bag and try to make it into the hula hoops. After their shot, students can leave the bean bag in the hula hoop and walk to the end of the line ,sit, and wait for their next turn. Students will need to sit down safely and respectfully. When I say reset the first person in line will collect all the bean bags in the hoop and bring them back to their line.
We do (guided practice):
Students are in their gym spot going through guided practice. (3x) Students then wait for my cues to engage in our shooting activity How many times are we going to practice our technique? (Three times) What do we do after we shoot? (Leave bean bag in hula hoop, walk back to the end of the line, sit down, safely and respectfully) How can we show championship attitude? When I go back to the end of the line my team gives me high-fives. You do (@ Bats):
Teacher then directs the students to keep practicing. Hula hoops will be moved back for different distances and increase the difficulty of accuracy
IF TIME PERMITS! Students will then play a shooting game with the whole class All students are on the black circle in the middle of the gym There will be a hula hoop on the wildcat in the middle Every student has a bean bag When I say go each student will shoot (still using stance, elbow, follow through) and attempt to make their shot into the hula hoop. Teacher will then check to see their accuracy and see how many students made it in or not Distances will vary You do (@ Bats):
Students are engaged in both activities Check for understanding on game directions. What are our three cues for how to shoot a an object?
Exit ticket: Students transition back to their gym spots. In todays class how did you display championship attitude?
