Preface:

The main aim from that project is finding a standard rules for
framing and connections of all PCMs & transmission systems in our
BSS network. And unify the connection and framing in all our sites
and BSCs.

target is creating a unified standard transmission and
cabling, Frames data base in order to facilitate our work, increase
performance & quality of our maintenance jobs in order to decrease
down time and efficient use of our man power resources.

Chapter 2: Labeling
The labeling phase is a very important work phase as it will
maintain good knowledge and secures our data base from
misunderstanding and safe it against lost by aging. So, labels must be
put with extra care and we have maintained it over the time by
checking it during PM and replace the faulty or bad labels.

1. DDF Labeling:
DDF must be labeled with a plastic water resistance label and it
must have the following data:
1. Cable no. & Direction or MW Link direction name.
2. Ports of MW, Fiber or cables (for Example ports from 1:8 or
ports from 9:16, Ports from 17 to 24 or 21 for SDH
ETC.).
3. Each DDF block should have at list 2 labels. One from up
side and other from down side or lift / right side.

2. PCM cable Labeling:
PCM cables should be labeled with a Plastic ring label as a 3 Ring
on each side in the following position:
One Ring label on the end of cable.

Ring label fixed after 1 meter from the end of cable.
3

Ring label fixed after 2 meters from the end of cable.

That means that each cable should have 6 plastic Ring labels
which should have the following Data:

1. Cable Capacity:
1P: for Cable 1 pair PCM cable.
2P: For 2 pair PCM cables.
10P: For 10 Pair PCM cables.
16P: For 16 Pair PCM cables.

2. Direction of Cable:
F: For fiber Room.
B1: For 2

Shelter of BSC 1 (old BSC Shelter).
B2: For 3
rd
Shelter of BSC 2.
N1: For 1
st
Nodal Shelter.
MW: For Cable goes to MW link.

4. Number of Cable:
It must be labeled according to number of cables goes
to the same direction. For example (16P_ F_ 1) means 16
Pair cable to fiber room, cable no. 1.

I . 16 pair cable of MW Links Case:
For 16 Pair Cable which coming from a MW link it must has the
following data:
1. MW Link Name as (MW_ Destination/ Remote site _ PCM
1:8/ 9:16).
2. PDH/ SDH: to differentiate between SDH and PDH MW links
in the same sites or in the same direction. (It must be put,
even if it is for future use especially at Cairo area).
------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Rectifier Fuses Labeling:

The label over the rectifier fuse must contain the following data:
Fuse Feeding Equipment.
For Example: BTS1, BTS 2, MW _ Remote Site _ 1 / MW_
Remote site _ X (for MW IDU extension) ...

Fuse Rating by Ampere: for Example 10 A / 20 A / 63 A ..

3. DC power cable Labeling:
DC power cables must be labeled with a 3 Ring Plastic
labels from each side as follows:
One Ring label on the end of cable.

Ring label fixed after 50 cm from the end of cable.

Ring label fixed after 1 meter from the end of cable.
And it must contain the same data as DC fuse label.

Part: BSS Site standard Documentation

Each site should have a Site file contains the following data and
document.
1. Updated Shelter lay out.
Shelter lay out created with dimension during site PM and has a
clear representation for all equipment in the site with its location and
draw with Any CAD program or even Excel sheet. This Site lay out
must be reviewed and updated after each Site PM / every 4 Months.

2. Updated Main DDF lay out:
Drawing for DDF blocks using MS_ Excel or other related SW
which must unified / available for all our teams and
subcontractors.

3. Site Data base sheets:
It is a Data base sheet creating by using MS _ Excel and contain
the following data fields:
1) Transmission Data base sheet
Transmission Data base sheet creating by using MS _ Excel
and contain the following data fields:
1. Transmission Link named by remote target site.
2. RX/ TX frequency.
3. TX Power & Nominal RX power in dBm.
4. Link E1 capacity.
5. Link transmission Securitization (I.e. 1+1, 1+1 HSB, 1+0,
1+1 MUX protection, Etc.).
6. Each Port with Served site (i.e. Port 1: Site Ramsis, Port 2:
BSC Casino Highway 1).
7. Link SNMP supervision IP address.
8. Link Identity code.
9. Link installation parameters.
10. Any other related parameters according to MW or link
supplier technical manual.

16 / 10 pair will be treated as a transmission link between two
locations as the following example:
I. 16 Pair cable no 1 to fiber room will be named as (cable 1 to
fiber long room and its ports will be port 1 to port 8 . & so on).
ii. 16 pair cable between Minya 1 & M inya 2 shelters in Minya
Exchange will be named as ( Cable 1: Minta 1 _ Minya 2 and its ports
will be port 1 to port 8 )

2) Power system data base sheet.

Power system Data base sheet creating by using MS _ Excel and
contain the following data fields:

1. Power meter / temporary power connection availability /
type (I.e. single or 3 phase with its KWH capacity / location
of power meter/ power cable diameter in mm/ Last
intervention PM reading).
2. Generator Data if applicable.
3. Battery data. (Type, cell voltage, AH capacity, quantity, last
PM battery test status by Volt/ time).
4. Rectifier Data (Type, Part no. , Model, S/ N & Rectifier Module
type/ part no. / SN / NO. No of modules / Module ampere
capacity).

3) Cooling & fire & Security system data base sheet.

Cooling system Data base sheet creating by using MS _ Excel and
1. A/ C units data (Type / Model / SN / capacity / last intervention
status %, Compressor capacity/ model / SN, A/ C fan unit
Model no. / SN & A/ C control & alarm system Type / Model
/ SN / status).
2. Fire system Data (Fire Panel Type/ model/ SN, Fire sensors
Type/ model/ SN, Fire extinguisher Type/ model/ SN,
Temperature sensor Type / Model / SN / status).
3. Door sensor & other intervention security systems
Type/ model/ SN.
4. Earth Bar data (Location / other related data / status).

4) Antenna & RF feeders data base
Antenna Data base sheet creating by using MS _ Excel and
1. GSM/ DCS Antennas (Type / Model / band / max TX power /
gain / location / labeling / status from last PM).
2. MW antennas (Type / Model / band / Polarization/ labeling /
gain / location / status from last PM).
3. RF cables (Type / diameters / connectors / status from last
PM).

5) Equipment data base:

Data base sheet creating by using MS _ Excel and contain the
following data for all installed equipment inside / outside site shelter.
Equipment name &supplier (if available) / Model / part no. /
SN / status.
Note:
For BTS equipment just safe copies from BTS terminal
inventory file during site PM.
