Projects Description
Scope
Project calls for the laying of pipes and associated works for the Yanbu & Madina - Phase 3
water transmission system.
The project includes three Packages.
Package B1 covers:
- 184.7 km of 76 inch pipeline
- 16.8 km of 48 inch pipeline
- 56.9 km of 36 inch pipeline
- 2.7 km of 60 inch pipeline
- 1.3 km of 24 inch pipeline
- 15.4 km of 24 inch loop line for the coastal area
Package B2 covers: the two feeder lines, including the 93.8 kilometers Madina Hanakiyah
feeder line and the 316.8 kilometer Madina Mahd feeder line.
Package C covers the civil works, supply and installation of equipments for pumping
stations, hydraulic designs, Scada and electrical works.

Schedule
Tender for construction contract was issued in early August 2010. Bid submission was
expected on 30 November 2010.
Client has also issued a tender for supply of 604.8 km of 12 - 76 inches steel pipes without
coating and lining. Bid closing was expected on 1 November 2010, but delayed.
ILF Engineering Consultants prepared the tender documents for the project.
The deadline for main construction contract and supply contract was on 22 February 2011.
Sinopec East China Company signed the construction contract in May 2011. The
construction started on 1st June 2011.
Group Five company was awarded the subcontract in December 2011 for the manufacture
and import of pipes worth $ 183m and and within a duration of 730 days.
Construction works were reported in July 2012 to be progressing as per schedule .
