Off-grid chemical injection pumps used for methanol injection to inhibit gas hydrate formation
and natural gas line freezing

Problem
Pneumatic chemical injection pumps are often driven by natural gas
Not only is the energy value of the natural gas wasted but the vented gas is a significant source
of Greenhouse Gas(GHG) emissions
There are over 20,000 pumps in Western Canada and a typical pneumatic pump will vent gas in
excess of 150 tonnes of CO2e per year at a cost of $2,250 annually (carbon tax of $15/tonne)
Vented natural gas equates to $1,600/pump/year in lost sales gas revenue
Solar powered pumps are the ideal alternative but with low solar availability, reliable winter
operation is a challenge

Designed with rugged, built to last Sun Pumper solar powered pumps with stainless steel
construction, graphite impregnated Teflon seals, and tungsten carbide piston (other options
available upon request)
Swagelok relief valve configured to recirculate back to the pump intake in the event of an over
pressure situation
Includes a Control Microsystems SCADAPack100 programmable logic controller
All skids inspected and certified to CSA standards
