- There are many different


possibilities in Europe for
a student who wants to
study abroad.
- To study abroad students
typically choose one of
three types of programs:
school-sponsored
programs, provider-based
programs, and third-party
programs.
- School-sponsored study abroad programs:
- connected to certain colleges and universities and
directed by an office on the campus.
- school-sponsored programs might offer less of a variety of
curricula and programming programs.
- Some opportunities to study abroad:
- study abroad program: high school and college students
live with a host family in a foreign country.
- Semester, summer, and year-long programs: you attend a
school, take intensive language courses, or perform
community service in another country.
- Provider-based programs:
- runned by private companies
- sell study abroad programs
and exchanges
- These programs are not
directly connected to
colleges and universities in
the other country.
- Third-party programs:
- Also private companies
- primarily sell study abroad programs and
exchanges
- established academic relationships with
colleges and universities in the United
States, which makes it easier to connect to
the students.

student you are able
to use programs
financed by the EU,
the most famous are:
- Erasmus project
- IRIS
- CIEE
- IES
ERASMUS PROJECT

- Students study or do an
internship for a period of
at least 3 months to an
academic year in another
European country.
- On the Erasmus website
you can apply these
scholarships for your
studies.
- You can choose yourself
where and what you want
to study. Erasmus
supports you financially.


IRIS

- The goal: to provide a service to both
students and universities involved in
Erasmus.
- Erasmus is an action under the
SOCRATES program and aims to facilitate
and promote student and teacher
exchanges between European higher
education institutions.


CIEE
- This organisation offers many summer programs to study
abroad.
- 60 summer study programs in almost 30 countries
worldwide.
- Summer programs offer short-term study options with the
same rigorous coursework: world-class faculty, cultural
programming, semester-long programs.
- most of the summer programs have no language
requirements that means a curious and intrepid spirit
are all you need to study abroad.


IES
These programs in England draw on London and
Oxford's rich resources:
- museums, theaters, historic sites, architectural
landmarks - to offer high-quality academic study
with a strong experiential component.


REQUIREMENTS
EUROPE
- If your a european citizen your not allowed to be discriminated (Intuitionfees, costs,
applications etc.)

- same applying conditions as like the citizens

- Because of the combined diversity system, universities acknowledge degrees from
other countries like the Abitur from Germany

- There has been the change to unify the degrees, so you can get the same degree in
each European country



USA
Application
- All students must sit an entrance exam, which is in a multiple choice
format.
- Most universities require students to sit the SAT or the ACT exam -
50 each.
- USA postgraduate programmes also require two or more reference
letters, usually written by university lecturers or former employers.

Costs
- $50-$100 per application.
- The average cost studying at a public university in 2011-2012 than
$20,000.

Visa
- Before applying for a visa you must be accepted and approved for
your programme of study.
- need to make an appointment for a visa interview with the US
embassy in your country.
- The F-1 student visa is for those wishing to study full time at an
accredited US college or university.

United Arab Emirates (UAE)

Application
- a Bachelors degree to study a postgraduate course;
- a Masters degree to study for a PhD (Doctor)
- qualifications to be obtained from an accredited higher education
institution.


Costs
- required to pay admission fees for all universities in the UAE, plus
additional costs for applying and registering for courses.
- check with each institution you are applying to as fees will vary
depending on the university and the course.
- Courses in the UAE are assessed in semester credit hours with each
course carrying a certain number of credits- credits are awarded
after the course has been successful completed.
Visa
- International students need to have received a student visa before
they start any course.
- Acceptance on to a university programme does not guarantee you a
student visa.
- You need to be sponsored by a UAE institution as recognised

be valid one year.
- Getting a student visa for the UAE can be a lengthy process so begin
your application early.

Brazil
Application
In Brazil there are three types of degrees:
Bachelor - takes between four to six years to complete
Master - takes one to two years to complete after a Bachelors degree
and is necessary for further study
Doctoral/PhD - the highest degree you can study and takes three to
four years to complete.

Cost
Federal and state universities don't charge intuition fees
the only fee international students have to pay is a registration fee once
you have been accepted to a course. This usually costs around

But if you want to study at a privat university you have to pay each
course.


Visa
- If you wish to study in Brazil you must apply for a student visa through
the Consulate General of Brazil your Country.
- This is where all visa applications are processed and shouldn't be
confused with the Embassy of Brazil in your country
CHINA
Application
- Institutions will have their own requirements for each degree programme so
check before applying.
- To apply for programmes in Hong Kong, go to individual university websites.
As universities are run similarly to those in the UK, qualifications from UK
universities are generally accepted and application processes are alike.

Cost
- Studying in China is relatively inexpensive when compared with the US or
Britain.
- These will vary with each programme so check with the admissions
department of your chosen university. Expenses for one academic year will
typically cost 3,000-6,000.
- Tuition fees range from between 6,000-10,000 per year in Hong Kong and
living expenses can also add up.

Visa
- To study in China you will need a study visa (X-visa) or a business
visa (F-visa). Both can be applied for at your nearest Chinese
Embassy or consulate.
- You can enter China on a tourist visa (L-visa) but must convert to one
of the aforementioned visas to legitimately study in the country.
