Date- 02/07/14 Subject- Warm Up for Park Hill Symphonic Winds Grade Level- High School Class Time- 11:27- 12:50 Building- Park Hill High School
Musical Objectives (Goals for group and/or individuals)
Breathing Exercise- Begin with the breathing exercise. Demonstrate and then lead the group through the exercise.
Read Chorale #2- Lead the group through chorale #2 without any changes in tempo. -Counting Exercise- Conduct the group through Chorale #2 but have the students count, including subdivisions, instead of play their instruments. As you conduct, manipulate the tempo so the students learn to follow your conducting.
Re-read Chorale #2- Lead the group through chorale #2 again, but manipulate the tempo this time to test whether they will follow you or not.
3 Way Scale Exercise- Split the group into three separate sections (Low, Middle, High). Conduct the group in a round starting with Group 1, then Group 2, and then Group 3 on a concert C Major scale. Each group will enter when the previous group reaches the third pitch. Listen for blend and tone.
-Repeat exercise on a concert Eb Major scale
Articulation Exercise- Conduct the group through a concert C Major scale in 4/4 time while listening for correct staccato and slur articulations.
Chromatic Exercise- Conduct the group through a chromatic scale exercise in 12/8 time while playing an articulation pattern of Slur Two, Tongue One on a concert Bb Scale.
Anticipated Outcomes and/or Problems
-Breathing Exercise and Reading Chorale #2 will ow ne. Problem areas may arise during the counting exercise as I manipulate the tempo. Those same problem areas may arise when we re-read Chorale #2 while manipulating the tempo again.
- 3 Way Scale Exercise may have intonation issues since these are different keys than they are used to warming up in. I will have to listen and address these when/if I hear them.
-Articulation/Chromatic Exercise will most likely have lazy articulations by certain members of the group, I will have to listen and address these issues as I hear them.

Assessment Commentary (Reection)
Were todays objectives realized? If not, will this material need to be presented again?
-Todays objectives were realized. There were some errors made on the articulation/chromatic exercises but part of that was my fault in how I conducted them through it. I properly warmed up the group for the cooperating teacher to take over and work through the pieces of music.
Group Progress Assessment
- Today was about continuing the journey of getting to know who I am and what I look like as a conductor, we are making progress. Time is an important factor in this.
