After Jesus rose from the dead, He told His disciples
they had a mission. He told them to go and teach the whole
world what they had learned about God. That was a big job! But Je-
sus also told them something else. I am with you
always, forever, He said.
Today, is the Sunday of the Paralytic. We remember
the story of a man Jesus healed. This man was para-
lyzed and hadnt walked for 38 years. Jesus listened to
him, and the man picked up his mat and walked.
But in the epistle reading today, we hear about another
paralyzed man. This story happened after Jesus had died
and risen from the dead. This happened after He had left
for Heaven. Jesuss disciple,
Peter, healed this paralyzed
man.
So we see that Jesus really is with us always. We
know that He did all kinds of miracles when He
lived on earth. But after He left for Heaven, He is
still with us. He still works miraclesjust like He
did for the second paralyzed man, and just like
He does for so many in the world every day!

SAINT GLYCERIA
A MARTYR OF THE ONE TRUE GOD
In school, you have probably
learned about the Greek myths.
These stories about Zeus and Hercules
and Poseidon and Athena (and many
more) are all entertaining stories. But
sometimes we forget that people once
really believed them!
On Tuesday, well remember a saint who
lived in Greece during a time when most
people believed in the many Greek gods.
Saint Glyceria had learned about Jesus Christ and
became a Christian. She knew that these Greek
gods were all myths. She knew that there was one true God.
Once, the governor had a big festival, and everybody was supposed to
sacrifice to the statues. Saint Glyceria was a Christian. She refused to
worship something that wasnt God. She saw the statue of Zeus and
turned it over! When the governor saw this, he ordered all kinds of tor-
tures for her.
Finally, Saint Glyceria was sent to be attacked by wild animals. One of
them bit her, and she died. Saint Glyceria knew the truth, and she died
for it. And now, God has rewarded her with a place in Heaven!
We celebrate Saint Glycerias day on Tuesday, May 13th.
