Dupont, Robert L., John J. Coleman, Richard H. Bucher, and Bonnie B. Wilford.
"Characteristics and Motives of College Students Who Engage in Nonmedical
Use of Methylphenidate." American Journal on Addictions 17.3 (2008): 167-
71.

The source is an article from The American Journal of Addictions and the authors are
four doctors: Robert L. DuPont, MD; John J. Coleman, PhD; Richard H. Bucher, PhD;
Bonnie B. Wilford, MS

The focus of this source is to relay the results of an online survey regarding the
nonmedical use of Methylphenidate an ADHD medication. The polling firm of Harris
Interactive conducted this survey.

This source is an article about a survey that researchers did to find out the
characteristics and motives of college students who use nonmedical ADHD drugs.
The survey was conducted anonymously online. The participants answered
questions about their own use of ADHD drugs. What kind they used, the brand, and
why they used them. The survey found that a large percent of the students who used
these drugs for nonmedical purposes got these drugs for free and took them orally.
The survey also showed how many students used the drugs for work/study,
party, and work/study and party. The survey also showed that an alarming
number of students took these drugs intranasally. It then tells us that abusing the
drugs this way rather than orally is much more dangerous.

This is a worthy source because it comes from a journal specifically about addictions
and the research was done by doctors. It is also worthy because it shows many
shocking and important statistics about the nonmedical use of ADHD medications.
