Clandeboye Masterclasses

Camerata Ireland invites applications from outstanding young musicians to participate in the
Clandeboye Festival. The festival offers an opportunity for young musicians to work with
international soloists as they teach and perform in the beautiful surroundings of the
Clandeboye Estate just outside Belfast.

Applications are invited from students of:
Piano, Violin, Viola, Cello, Woodwind, Brass and Voice (soprano)

Up to 12 applicants will be awarded scholarships to participate.


They will arrive at Clandeboye, outside Belfast, on Sunday 17
th
August and will work daily
with the Festivals Artists-in-Residence. On the evening of 21
st
August all masterclass
participants will perform in a public concert. Masterclass participants will be eligible and
considered for a number of substantial prizes and awards based on their work and
performances during the Festival.






Application Details

Eligibility
The masterclasses are open to all musicians born on the island of Ireland or whose
parents were born in Ireland. Students who do not meet these criteria but who have
lived on the island of Ireland for most of their life may also apply. Applicants must have
been born on or after 1st January 1988.


Repertoire
Successful applicants will be required to prepare a work or movement from a work
(approx 10-12 mins) for performance in recital with an accompanist (solo work in the
case of pianists). They are also required to prepare a solo work and a movement from a
concerto or aria which will be studied in the masterclasses.


General
All masterclasses, accommodation and food are provided free. Participants will live on
site at Clandeboye Courtyard (http://www.clandeboye.co.uk/) for the duration of the
Festival. Travel to and from the Festival will be the responsibility of each participant.
