essernet esserbus-PLus 2 Secure conditions: competence & responsibility Due to our extensive product portfolio, you can realize pro- jects with us which, because of their complexity, meet the highest requirements of the re alarm system. Our system concept is driven accordingly an thus guarantees smooth coordination of all technology used. With very large ob- jects, it is important for planners, installers, and operators to make use of the known exibility of our systems as well as the proverbial Esser reliability, in order to allow the instal- lation of the re detection technology during expansion and reconstruction of already existing properties in a simple and easy way. Of course our product range is provided with acknow- ledged certications so as to be able to realize some of the largest objects worldwide. All control panels and detectors are tested and authorized in compliance with EN-54. The larger an object is, the more important it is to select a suita- ble re alarm system which is resistant to malfunction and other disturbance variables. Here again you are making the right decision by selecting our products.
Technically demanding and extensive large projects are successfully realized worldwide with our innovative pro- ducts and system solutions. Here we always offer our part- ners the best possible technical support and together deve- lop the optimal system solution for any type of application.
The following examples of internationally realized objects present only a selection of the possibilities our products have to offer. 795883.G0_022009_V2.indd U2 05.03.2009 10:07:57 Repeater Fibre optic converter Maximum 1,000 m Maximum 3,000 m Maximum 20,000 m 3 The essernet flexible and efficient The essernet, a loop which can tolerate short circuits and interruptions, combines several control panels and net- work components into a hierarchy-free network for econo- mical and convenient monitoring of extensive building com- plexes. Indicating and control operations are easily possible and trouble-free via the essernet, even across multiple con- trol panels. Due to the modular construction, all changes in the object can be programmed quickly and easily from a single point. Even the conguration of master panel (MP) and slave pa- nel (SP) is possible at any time via the programming soft- ware.
At a bit rate of 62.5 kbaud, up to 16 devices can communi- cate with each other via the net; at a bit rate of 500 kbaud, the number increases to 31 devices. essernet ranges Depending on objects particular circumstances, the esser- net can be operated using even the most diverse types of cable. If a bit rate of 62.5 kbaud is selected, traditional telephone cable - IY (ST) Y nx2x0.8 mm is sufcient. For the high bit rate of 500 kbaud, IBM Type 1 and/or Bel- den 1634A cable must be used, which are widely used in data processing.
The maximum distance between 2 essernet loop devices is 1000m. If that is not far enough, the distance can be tripled by using two repeaters. If bre optic and corresponding converters are used, even distances of up to 20km between two devices can be realized. 795883.G0_022009_V2.indd U3 05.03.2009 10:07:58 essernet essernet with 20 Control Panels Property 2 Property 3 Gateway Fire Department Control Center FACP 8007 Modem LGH 9600 Telephone Line Serial Connection Ethernet Control Center Main Panel in essernet MP SP MP SP MP SP MP SP to Property Server Client Client Server MP SP MP SP Serial essernet Interface 4 795883.G0_022009_V2.indd U4 05.03.2009 10:07:59 5 Within a range of approx. 400 km 2 , information (status of zone, detector and control groups) of six widely distributed properties with a total of approx. 120 re alarm control pa- nels and 7,500 detectors is transmitted to a control center. At the same time, all information is switched onto a redun- dant management system.

Serial essernet Interface (SEI), Part No. 784856 MP-SP protocol converter Gateway, Part No. 788730 The individual essernet networks work completely auto- nomously; that is, announcements are transmitted to the control center and/or to the management system, but not to the other networks. All operations of the re alarm system are possible from both the control center and the manage- ment system. The additional texts of the individual networks are available centrally in the gateways and can be displayed both in the re department control center as well as in the management system. The existing internal telecommunication network is used as a medium for the transfer of the respective esser- net data. Both the con- nection of the individual systems as well as the manage- ment system itself are redundant (red and yellow lines) for security reasons. The clinics own pre-existing Ethernet net- work is used for this. Transmission Unit to Fire Department IQ8Control Fire Alarm Control Panel RS232 TCP/IP Converter, Part No. 013405.10 The networks of both properties work autonomously. Via WINMAGplus, however, the user has the option to access all control panels. For security reasons, the re announce- ments of the individual networked re alarm systems are ad- ditionally transferred to the main panels of the other net- works via esserbus transponders (blue line). In this way, an emergency call can still be made over the redundant path even if there is a breakdown of one transmission device. Currently, the entire re alarm system consists of 50 re alarm control panels with a total of 9,000 detectors. The fur- ther expansion of a third and fourth essernet is currently in progress. The nal conguration will contain approx. 80 re alarm control panels and 12,000 detectors. 795883.G0_022009_V2.indd U7 05.03.2009 10:08:40 TCP/IP RS 232 RS 232 TCP/IP RS 232 TCP/IP TCP/IP RS 232 Property 1 Property 2 Property 3 Property 4 Serial Interface for WINMAGplus Central Control Center Intranet TCP/IP Serial Connection Ethernet esserbus-PLus Converter Converter Converter Converter 8 795883.G0_022009_V2.indd U8 05.03.2009 10:08:46 9 Real-time monitoring of 10,000 detectors via intranet The re alarm systems in the headquarters of a large telephone company are centrally switched over to the WINMAGplus management system. These re alarm sy- stems are distributed in business locations throughout the entire country. The exibility of WINMAGplus allows the creation of a companys own individual internal user interface with diffe- rent security levels and user-specic access rights. At the same time, WINMAGplus allows the display and access to all re alarm systems of the respective properties.

Serial essernet Interface (SEI), Part No. 784856 Individual re alarm control panels or complex networked systems can be present in these 40 ofces. Individual systems are not connected via the serial essernet module but rather via the clearly more cost-effective WINMAGplus interface. Transmission of the announcements occurs exclu- sively via the companys own Ethernet. 795883.G0_022009_V2.indd U9 05.03.2009 10:09:02 TCP/IP FO Ethernet Converter essernet essernet Connection via Transponder Serial Connection Ethernet Fibre optic (FO) Direct Connection Property 1 Property 2 Redundant Server WINMAGplus Server opt. Additionally, all information is made available in a control panel in the engineering room. This is made possible by IQ8Control Gateways which have an Ethernet interface and which can gather, display and forward the information of all re alarm systems. System-wide operations are also possi- ble with the aid of these gateways. In addition to the redundant WINMAGplus manage- ment system, an IQ8Control Gateway is located in the control center as a combined indicator and control panel. In each case there is also an IQ8Control Gateway located in the high-rise buildings engineering rooms. These enable the status display and operation of both re alarm systems. With the re alarm system, the connection occurs via the Serial essernet Interface and via a special network controller for the intrusion detection tech- nology. In addition, the data of both networks is transmitted serially to a BACnet Gateway which respectively encodes the data and forwards it to a superior building management system. Multiprotocol Gateway, Part No. 7850xx Network Controller Serial essernet Interface (SEI), Part No. 784856 The operation of both systems is thus possible both local- ly via the WINMAGplus Touch Panel as well as via the control center. In addition to the gateway shown here, other interfaces for OPC, LONTalk, Modbus IP or EIB / Instabus are available. Operation via the building management system is depen- dent on the interface used. 795883.G0_022009_V2.indd U15 05.03.2009 10:10:11 Your specialist Novar GmbH a Honeywell Company Dieselstrae 2 41469 Neuss, Germany Phone: +49 2137 17-0 (Administration) Phone: +49 2137 17-600 (Customer Service Center) Fax: +49 2137 17-286 Internet: www.esser-systems.com E-mail: info@esser-systems.com Honeywell Life Safety Austria GmbH Lembckgasse 49 1230 Vienna, Austria Phone: +43 1 600 6030 Fax: +43 1 600 6030-900 Internet: www.hls-austria.at E-mail: hls-austria@honeywell.com Part No. 795883.G0 February 2009 Subject to change without notice 2009 Honeywell International Inc. 795883.G0_022009_V2.indd U4 05.03.2009 10:07:32
