RESEARCH METHODOLOGY is a way to systematically solve the research problem. It may understand as a science of studying how research is done scientifically. In it, we study the various steps that are generally adopted by the researcher in his study of research problem along with the logic behind them.

RESEARCH DESIGN is a framework or blueprint for conducting the research for a project. It details the procedures necessary for obtaining the information needed. A research design lays the foundation for conducting the project.

NATURE OF STUDY
DESCRIPTIVE RESEARCH DESIGN

Descriptive research is used to obtain information concerning the current status of the phenomena to describe what exists with respect to variables or conditions in a situation. The method uses the survey which describes the status quo, the correlation study which investigates the relationship between variables to developmental studies seek to determine changes over time. The information has been collected by conducting a survey amongst the various retail investors available in Chennai through questionnaire.

Data Collection Method

Data refers to information or facts. It is not only refers numerical figures but also includes descriptive facts. The method of data collection includes two types for the study, such as primary data and secondary data.

PRIMARY DATA

Primary data is the data that is collected for the first time by the researcher. The primary data is collected with specific set of objective to assess the current status of any variable studied. Primary data is useful only for a particular period. Questionnaire Observation Direct Interview

SECONDARY DATA

This is also known as published data, data which are not originally collected but rather obtained from published source and statistically processed are known as secondary data. Websites Magazines and other documents

STATISTICAL HYPOTHESIS
A hypothesis is a statement of a relationship between two or more variables. A statistical hypothesis is simply a particular kind of hypothesis.

A statistical hypothesis is an assumption about a population parameter. This assumption may or may not be true. Hypothesis testing refers to the formal procedures used by statisticians to accept or reject statistical hypotheses. There are two types of statistical hypotheses.

Null hypothesis. The null hypothesis, denoted by H0, is usually the hypothesis that sample observations result purely from chance. Alternative hypothesis. The alternative hypothesis, denoted by H1 or Ha, is the hypothesis that sample observations are influenced by some non-random cause.
