Letter of Intent (LOI) The online LOI for Colleges and Universities has been activated with effect

from 3rd December 2012. In order to facilitate institutions to view the LOI, prior to filling up the format, the PDF versions are given below. Please note this is only for perusal and NAAC will accept only online applications. All institutions should have an institutional website prior to the submission of LOI (websites with special characters are not accepted due to security reasons).

Assessment and Accreditation (A&A) of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Documents to be submitted with LOI. Higher education institutions (HEIs) desirous of applying for assessment and accreditation to NAAC may first check the Eligibility Criteria.

Competent Authority (with Name, Designation, Seal and Signature) PS: Kindly note the format is only suggestive and any other letter structure can be used to convey the information in full.. All Letters/Documents regarding affiliation/ recognition by statutory bodies etc., if not in the English language, then the institution is advised to provide an English translation of the same (and upload it along with the original letter/document) under the seal and signature of the Head of the Institution.

SSR (Self Study Report)


On submission of SSR, following documents have to be enclosed Colleges

If there is a change in the name of the institution, necessary approvals from the affiliating university and UGC Statement of Compliance Certificate of Compliance

(Affiliated/Constituent/Autonomous Colleges and Recognized Institutions) This is to certify that ............................................................ (Name of the institution) fulfils all norms 1. Stipulated by the affiliating University and/or 2. Regulatory Council/Body [such as UGC, NCTE, AICTE, MCI, DCI, BCI, etc.] and 3. The affiliation and recognition [if applicable] is valid as on date. In case the affiliation / recognition is conditional, then a detailed enclosure with regard to compliance of conditions by the institution will be sent. It is noted that NAACs accreditation, if granted, shall stand cancelled automatically, once the institution loses its University affiliation or Recognition by the Regulatory Council, as the case may be. In case the undertaking submitted by the institution is found to be false then the accreditation given by NAAC is liable to be withdrawn. Eligibility Criteria for Institutions (w.e.f. 1st November 2013)


1) The following types of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are eligible to apply for the process of Assessment and Accreditation (A&A) of NAAC, if they have a record of atleast two batches of students graduated or been in existence for six years, whichever is earlier and fulfill the other conditions or are covered by the other provisions, if any, mentioned below : a) Universities (Central/State/Private/Deemed-to-be) and Institutions of National Importance

Provided further that the duly established campuses within the country, if any, shall be treated as part of the universities / Institutions of National Importance for the A&A process NAAC will not undertake the accreditation of off-shore campuses

b) Colleges(i.e., colleges/institutions affiliated to, or constituent of, or recognized by universities, including autonomous colleges)

Provided Teacher Education / Physical Education colleges shall have a standing of atleast three years.. However, colleges/institutions offering programmes recognized by Statutory Professional Regulatory Councils concerned as equivalent to a degree programme of a university shall also be eligible for A&A even if such colleges/institutions are not affiliated to a university.

2) Any other HEIs at the discretion of NAAC. Note: The NAAC accreditation does not cover distance education units of HEIs.
