FIRE-FIGHTING & EXTINGUSHING ROBOT

INTRODUCTION The security of home, laboratory, office, factory and building is important to human life. We are developing an intelligent multi sensor based fire fighting robot in our daily life. We design the fire detection system using four flame sensors in the fire fighting robot, and program the fire detection and fighting procedure using sensor based method. The fire fighting robot can get detection signals. If fire accident is true, the fire fighting robot can uses four flame sensors to find out fire source by the proposed method, and move to fire source to fight the fire using extinguisher. Nowadays the growth of petrochemical is vast due to increase number of transportation. So there are many numbers of them for supplying fuel to the vehicles. In those industries the petroleum fuel are stored in huge containers. Causes are many to ma e them catch fire if they are not properly protected. To prevent petrochemical fire by sensing the conditions for fire previously and intimating to the user at remote monitoring station using wireless communication interface. !ur pro"ect uses a microcontroller for providing a safe protection and intimation of any chances of fire condition. It ensures fire safety to the petrochemical industries.

It is more advantageous than a smo e detector as it can extinguish the fire at the inception than waiting for an ob"ect to burn and produce smo e. When a smo e detector detects fire it, sprays water all over the place, instead of that particular point of source. It voluntarily detects and extinguishes fire without human aid. The fire sensor used is I#$ %&& while the micro'controller

used is (IC)*+,--. .ere we use two motor driving units/ one for the movement of robot 0 other for the water pump. 1 Stepper motors of 2345 #obo 6it having a rating of )&&rpm7)12 is at the sides and ) free ball in ball bearing wheel at front of robot/ while a )12 $C motor for pumping water. .ere the robot detects fire by the fire sensor and moves towards it. 5fter reaching a certain distance from the fire, it sprays water at the fire, thereby extinguishing it. It then comes bac to its initial position.

OPERATION In this pro"ect design, the fire detection system using four flame sensors which are programmed for fire detection and fighting procedure using sensor based method. We design a low cost based obstacle detection module using I# sensors and ultrasonic sensors in the mobile robot. This is true, fire fighting robot can get detection signals. If fire accident the fire fighting robot can uses four flame sensors to find out fire source by the proposed method, and move to fire source to fight the fire using extinguisher. It is more advantageous than a smo e detector as it can extinguish the fire at the inception than waiting for an ob"ect to burn and produce smo e. CONCLUSION <y using this robot in fire places the robot can move to the places where human entry is not possible or ris y and extinguish fire. It can save many lives of the people by ;uic ly finding and putting out the fire at the initial level before it reaches the dangerous levels. =ser friendly remote operation of the robot is also possible which can help fire fighters to handle this robot manually. Thus a low cost and high performance robot can be designed by using our pro"ect design suitable of many fire safety purposes.
