History and Geography

This is a great field trip which mixes closely with science and history. The field trip is within CCSD guidelines as far as times and budget. Students will get to experience 1 hour of exciting exhibits that specifically go into ancient territories and habitats of animals near and far. Students will enjoy the variety and quick 15 min. transitions because it wont force them in one place for a long period of time.

Great site that begins the experience with a very educational video about farming and agriculture. It also is very easy to navigate and uses colorful and engaging print for the younger grades. Students may also pick a state to get more information on its agriculture relating to economics.

1. Explain which field trip you are most excited about.

I would be most excited about the Hoover Dam field trip because I myself feel students will benefit most from this trip. I think the number of activities offered at this venue and the vast amount of information offered will help enrich the students minds and help them further learn about our states history. In addition I feel this could be a repeat field trip destination for the students who can also take a virtual tour afterwards to go back and look at elements they were most interested by.

2. What challenges did you run into during this assignment?

I found it really hard to think of a guest speaker. I know there must be a million and one out there but I couldnt find one online that I really felt matched with I wanted to get across that wouldnt be just as effective online or even more effective for the students to go on a traditional field trip for. I think speakers are most effective in their own environment but maybe I feel this way because I rarely had experienced them growing up. I also remember finding it hard to focus when they came because often there was just one speaker and several of us so many questions went unanswered.
