Combined Team
T eam Descript ion: Balancer

General Descript ion

As indicated on the Balanced Team graph, the scores for the combined team profile fall in the Mid-Range section of the graph. A Mid-Range score normally indicates that the team members have a balanced mixture of traits from each end of the continuum for that factor. The Balanced team is the most flexible of all the team profiles and usually includes several team members who can fulfill most roles to which that team may be called upon to fill.

Ideal Environment
Teams with this profile function effectively with opportunities for a broad range of functions in a flexible environment.

Typical Areas Of St rengt h

Depending on the individual profiles combined in this team's Balanced profile, the range of strengths may cover many if not all of the strengths needed in an organization. This is what makes a Balancer Team so desirable, depending on what task needs to be accomplished.

Typical Areas Of St ruggle

Depending on the individual profiles combined in this team's Balanced profile, the range of struggles may cover many if not all of the struggles found among the profiles.

Preferred Act ivit ies

To maximize the talents of this team, assign individuals with Balanced profiles to variable roles needing the most flexibiltity. Assign individuals with other profiles to roles best suited for their specific profiles.

Cont ribut ions To The Organizat ion

The Balanced team can contribute a high level of flexibiltiy especially important for organizations in transition or highly variable markets.

Leadership St yle
Balancers within the team are comfortable as leaders or followers, depending on the circumstances, and are willing to assume responsibility when leadership is required. They are excellent for organizations with a high level of mobility and can assume leadership when others on the team are absent.

Task Or People Orient at ion

Balanced teams naturally operate with a balance between commitment to people and tasks, which can make them very effective in most environments.

St ress Fact ors

The Balanced team is very flexible but may experience stress when the environment is extremely chaotic, unpredictable, or includes conflict, unexpected changes, a lack of appreciation, or extreme rudeness.

Financial Management
Balanced members of this type of team can function well in control of the finances, but need concentrated time to keep up-to-date. Oversight of finances may be part of the team's responsibilities with another team responsible for the detailed accounting.

7/21 Prepared by: Alet Strydom Tuesday 29 Apr 2014 10:53:13

Budget And Financial Issues

Balanced teams may tend to be very conservative in handling money, but they also may include individuals on the team who agree to unwise financial transactions without appropriate questioning or in order to avoid conflict. Without an individual on the team who is excellent with budgets and finances, it is best to assign these duties to another team.

Suggest ions For Managers

The Balance Team has a balanced mixture of traits, combined from the members of the team. The team may be composed of members who are primarily Balanced, but may also contain a full range of all of the profiles. The manager is advised to study the Balanced Team individual profiles as well as the team report providing the composite graphs and spread of all the team members. If most are the same, they will as a team operate in the flexible, multi-functional mode of the Balanced individual. If the members include people with most of the sixteen main profiles, the team can handle a broad array of functions with specific assignments given to the most appropriate team members based on their individual profiles. This information will be valuable for assigning and distributing the work assigned to the manager of a Balanced team and maximizing the effectiveness of the team and contributing to the success of the organization.

Budget And Financial Issues

eams with this style tend to use finances according to pre-established expectations and comply with budgetary limits as they carefully control their outlay. They typically are very adept in using their talents to produce sound financial planning and management.

Suggest ions For Managers

A team with an Analyzer profile will have several individuals with the same profile and others with similar profiles. Analyzers are natural organizers and administrators and will respond positively and effectively to Management's push to achieve results if the organization requires a faster completion on a project. The organization's area of supervision will benefit from this team's ability to provide insights and direction by teaching, managing, clarifying, and advising." )

General Descript ion

Teams with a Networker personality typically excel by blending the team members' enjoyment of new people, new situations and new environments. Networker teams build relationships and interact with an ever-widening circle of contacts. Team members tend to enjoy using their verbal skills and wit to be engaging and persuasive.

Ideal Environment
Teams with this profile function most effectively with opportunities to network, influence, gain recognition, relate, communicate, perform, entertain, be active and interact with strangers.

Typical Areas Of St rengt h

A Networker team is normally strong in communication. Team members are usually outgoing, engaging, lively, optimistic, gregarious, persuasive, fun-loving, enthusiastic and inspiring.

Typical Areas Of St ruggle

Teams with a Networker profile will likely have members who may sometimes be prone to talking too much, being disorganized, impulsive, too emotional, too optimistic, or exaggerating. Sometimes they tend to overcommit and overlook key details.

Preferred Act ivit ies

To maximize the talents of this team, assign it to situations in which the team members can have the opportunity to influence, meet or entertain others. It is important to provide variety and opportunities to present new creative ideas along with a minimum of detail work.

Cont ribut ions To The Organizat ion

A team with a Networker profile tends to influence people through friendship, enthusiasm, humor and strong communication skills. Team members enjoy activities that involve presentations, promotions and working with groups.

Leadership St yle
Teams with this profile tend to lead most effectively when they can be in the spotlight. They tend to convey ideas and visions with high energy, talk, humor, wit and enthusiasm. Team members with a solid Networker profile are most convincing and can frequently overpower less enthusiastic team members.

Task Or People Orient at ion

Because Networker teams are typically engaging and interacting, they may become so engrossed in communicating that they lose focus on task and time management.

St ress Fact ors

Teams with this profile tend to experience stress when they are burdened by extensive detail work, isolation from people, and confinement to a desk. They may tend to procrastinate on detail work or projects and then become stressed by deadlines.

Financial Management
Networker team members typically struggle with details, organization, and focus. Keeping track of business budgets, deadlines, meetings and appointments is a constant challenge. Frequently over-extended limits on business accounts indicate the need for assistance to keep expenses under control.

20/21 Prepared by: Alet Strydom Tuesday 29 Apr 2014 10:53:13

Budget And Financial Issues

Money management is probably not a natural strength for teams with this profile. They usually are not receptive to budget restraints or strategic financial planning. They must learn to respect and rely on others who have strengths in this area.

Suggest ions For Managers

A team with a Networker profile will have several individuals with the same profile and others with similar profiles. Networkers are people persons and are more motivated by people than achievement. A Networker team is very enthusiastic and productive as a team and will get along well with each other. Team members are likely to want to please and may overcommit to tasks that may not be realistic in view of the current assignments. The manager of this team may need to help with accountability and put limits to this team's responsibility by setting clear expectations. The best situation avoids heavy responsibility for repetitive tasks like data entry. Instead look for situations that have frequent changes. This team's members may be management's best ambassadors to other staff for highly changeable environments and will thrive with frequent appreciation for supporting change.
