ube workers are striking for two days from 9pm on Monday 28 April, and then for three days from 9pm on Monday 5 May. Because tube workers are so central to keeping London running, their strikes cause a lot of disruption. But they are absolutely right to strike and they are striking for us all.

Defending our services

Its great to see a well-organised group of workers standing up against the Tories and not meekly accepting cuts and closures. We have had enough of our services being savaged while the rich keep getting richer. Tory London mayor Boris Johnson and tube managers are proposing to make the tube service less safe, less accessible and with worse paid staff. Johnson wants to slash 953 jobs, close every single ticket office and increase the workload of the staff left behind while cutting their pay by up to 12,000 a year. We want a tube service that has staff who can help disabled people, find lost children, give advice, ensure safety, assist tourists and do a thousand other things. The RMT union says, Instead of attacking tube workers who are fighting

to defend jobs and safety David Cameron should be hauling in his Tory colleague Boris Johnson to explain why he has turned his promise to Londoners not to close ticket offices on its head and is now hell-bent on axing every single one of them. If you can, visit a picket line and show your support for the striking tube workers. You can also send messages of support to info@rmt.org.uk or tweet @RMTunion Victory to the RMT! Lets all fight the Tories and their rotten austerity.
