The firm was named Birla %ute manufacturing company limited. Time watched as small unit prospered, it also embar ed a young man to bacon the new industrial India.

The name of company changed to Birla %ute and industries limited in &98). CEMENT INDUSTRY Cement is a binding material used in ci"il construction. It is fine powder, which on addition of re*uisite addition of water is capable of harding by the chemical interaction of its constituents with water and is capable of blending together. The real foundation stone of present industry was laid in the year &9&- when India Cement Corporation limited established a small factory at (orbander in Kahtiawa. This factory commenced in &9&/ at the rate of about &.. metric tons per day. The raw material re*uired for cement ma ing are lime stone, coal, clay fly ash, and gypsum which regulate setting time. There are two process of cement manufacturing wet and dry. In the wet process the raw materials are grounded along with water, but in dry process materials are grounded in dry state. 0egarding the "arieties of the product there are eight "arieties in the industry, (ortland cement, Blast furnace, #lag cement, (ortland po11olana cement, Grey cement, 2hite cement. Commissioned in &949, #atna Cement 2or s 5#C26 has the distinction of being the first Cement plant in Birla Group manufacturing Cement with the then pre"ailing 72et process7 technology. In eeping with technological de"elopments, the plant was upgraded and switched o"er to 7$ry process7 of Cement manufacturing in &989. The plant has been conferred with I#899..- and I#89&/..& certification in recognition of its performance in *uality management and en"ironmental management systems. Besides the con"entional general purpose Cement 8(C ))G, /)G and 4)G, #atna Cement manufactures ((C utili1ing :lyash recei"ed from ;T(C Thermal (ower (lant at <nchahar5<.(6 and also special purpose Cements "i1. #ulphate 0esistant (ortland Cement, ,ow !l ali Cement and &0#.9T9/. grade Cement for 0ailway sleepers. This plant has the distinction of being the only plant in I;$I! with an !l ali bypass system installed. In consonance with its commitment to *uality, necessary instrumentation facilities including =90ay analy1er and =90ay diffractometer are pro"ided for monitoring and controlling *uality of 0aw materials and Clin er>Cement. 2hile domestic mar et re*uirements the met with our products under the brand name 7BI0,! RATIONALE OF THE STUDY The purpose of this study is to de"elop nowledge about Birla cementD9 &. <nderstanding factors li e importance of ratio analysis, wor ing capital budgeting, and in"entory management. #uggesting the best possible solution to the problem faced during sur"ey to organi1ation. -. The infrastructural segment is growing "ery fast and therefore cement industry being feeder to infrastructure has shown robust growth. Both intrastate as well as cement industry pro"ide good employment opportunity.

The o"erall outloo for the industry shows significant growth on the bac of robust demand from housing construction.
