Per your direction the following is a synopsis of my activity during this, the first six months of my contract for services with the Broward Sheriffs Office (BSO). February 2013 ! In Broward County February 4-9 ! Primary Focus: Finalize contract, Introductions, Initial Assignments ! Met with Sheriff Israel, Director Angelo Castillo, General Counsel Ron Gunzburger and Chief of Staff Lisa Castillo March 2013 ! In Broward County March 9 15 ! Primary Focus: Working with newly formed BSO Legislative Team to achieve the Sheriffs goals for the 2013 Legislative Session and working with Director of Administration Director Angelo Castillo on potential cost savings and budget strategies ! Met with Angelo Castillo, Lisa Castillo, Ron Gunzburger and Sheriff Israel at various times during the course of the week ! Participated in Florida Sheriffs Association Legislative Conference Calls on behalf of Sheriff Israel and the Broward Sheriffs Office on March 4, 11, 18, 25 and debriefed with BSO staff and lobbyists accordingly ! Met regularly with BSO Lobbyists in Tallahassee April 2013 ! In Broward County April 12 18 ! Primary Focus: Working with BSO Legislative Team to achieve the Sheriffs goals for the 2013 Legislative Session ! Met with Angelo Castillo, Lisa Castillo, Ron Gunzburger at various times during the course of the week.

Participated in Florida Sheriffs Association Legislative Conference Calls on behalf of Sheriff Israel and the Broward Sheriffs Office on April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 and debriefed with BSO staff and lobbyists accordingly Met regularly with BSO Lobbyists in Tallahassee Was tasked with moderating/facilitating a strategic planning session with Sheriff and BSO Command and top civilian staff. Assigned to work with Director Jim Chinn and Chief of Staff Lisa Castillo.

May 2013 ! In Broward County May 9-15 ! Primary Focus: Legislative debriefing and preparation for a proposed BSO Strategic Planning session (Scheduled for June 7) ! Briefed the Sheriff, Lisa Castillo and Ron Gunzburger on final legislative action with BSO Lobbying Team ! Legislature awarded BSO an increase of $2 million for Child Protective Investigations Program over normal appropriations. Sheriff Israel made child protection his top legislative priority. Broward County has Floridas highest caseload of child abuse investigations with caseloads up 24% from 2003. BSO had experienced a 5.7% funding decrease in CPIS funding during the previous Sheriffs administration. Previous BSO administration had as many as 13 registered lobbyists in Tallahassee yet lost funding our team consisted of 4 lobbyists and we brought an additional $2 million in to BSO CPIS in the Sheriffs first legislative session. ! Met with Lisa Castillo and Director Jim Chinn to coordinate Strategic Planning session June 2013 ! In Broward County June 9-13 ! Primary Focus: Strategic Planning session (subsequently postponed) and Budget negotiations with County ! Met with Angelo Castillo, Ron Gunzburger and Lisa Castillo was asked to provide my perspective on past budget negotiations with the County and offered/responded to suggestions for resolving issues. July 2013 ! In Broward County July 11-17 ! Primary Focus: 2014 Legislative Session and Strategic Planning session ! Met with Lisa Castillo and Ron Gunzburger and BSO Lobbyists Mat Forrest (Ballard Partners) and Heather Turnbull (RubinGroup) to begin planning for 2014 Legislative session. ! Met with Sheriff separately to discuss various issues This synopsis covers my in-person activity at BSO over the past 6 months. The synopsis does not cover the numerous contacts, directives and conversations I had when I was not in Broward County with you, the Sheriff, Ron Gunzburger and Angelo Castillo -- which I conservatively estimate to be at least 3 times per week.
