Installation of M Performance Side Skirt Films

Installation time The installation time is approx. 0.75 hours. This may vary depending on the condition of the car and the equipment in it. Important information These installation instructions are primarily designed for use within the BMW dealership organisation and by authorised BMW service companies. In any event, the target group for these installation instructions is specialist personnel trained on BMW cars with the appropriate specialist knowledge. All work must be completed using the latest BMW repair manuals, wiring diagrams, servicing manuals and work instructions, in a rational order, using the prescribed tools (special tools) and observing current health and safety regulations. If you experience installation or function problems, restrict troubleshooting to approx. 0.5 hours for mechanical work and 1.0 hour for electrical work. To avoid unnecessary extra work and/or costs, send an inquiry straight away to the technical parts support team via the Aftersales Assistance Portal (ASAP). Quote the following information: - Vehicle identification number, - retrofit kit part number, - a detailed description of the problem, - any work already carried out. Do not archive the hard copy of these installation instructions since daily updates are provided via ASAP!

Installation information All pictures show LHD cars; proceed accordingly on RHD cars. Installation is shown only on the left-hand side of the car; proceed in the same way on the right-hand side of the car. Section 6 shows installation on the F10, Section 7 shows installation on the F20 and Section 8 shows the installation on the F30. Proceed accordingly with the other models. The areas being bonded must be completely dry, clean and free from wax or grease. The ambient temperature for bonding work must be no lower than 15 C and no higher than 35 C. The vehicle can be taken through a car wash after 48 hours. M Performance skirt films A and B must be completely bladed around the visible area at the bottom. We recommend using a lifting platform.

Installing M Performance skirt film F10/F11

All areas being bonded must be completely dry, clean and free from wax or grease. Align M Performance skirt film A flush with the rear wheel arch on the contour edge (1) of the M side skirt and press into place.

Route M Performance skirt film A along the contour edge (2) and align and press into place up to the front edge (3). The front end of M Performance skirt film A must overhang the front edge (3).

Using the blade (1), run it over M Performance skirt film A, starting from the centre, from top to bottom. Then carefully remove the backing film from M Performance skirt film A.

The front end of M Performance skirt film A is bonded around the skirt edge, keeping to the sequence when bonding the adhesive surfaces.

First bend the bonding surface (1), press into place and then run the blade over it. Then bend the bonding surface (2), press into place and then run the blade over it. Finally, bend the bonding surface (3), press into place and then run the blade over it.

Installing M Performance skirt film F15/F20/F21/F22/F23

For F21/F22/F23 only: The areas being bonded must be completely dry, clean and free from wax or grease.

Stick skirt film for front left wheel arch C on the narrow edge of the skirt and run the blade over it. Then carefully remove the backing film from skirt film for front left wheel arch C.

For all cars: All areas being bonded must be completely dry, clean and free from wax or grease. Align M Performance skirt film A flush with the rear wheel arch on the contour edge (1) of the M side skirt and press into place. Route M Performance skirt film A along the contour edge (2) and align and press into place up to the front edge (3).

The front end of M Performance skirt film A must overhang the front edge (3).

Press on M Performance skirt film A using a finger or the blade along the centre of the crease (1). Starting from the middle, run the blade (2) over the crease (1) from bottom to top. Starting from the middle, run the blade (2) under the crease (1) from top to bottom. Then carefully remove the backing film from M Performance skirt film A.

Installing M Performance skirt film F30/F31/F32/F35

The areas being bonded must be completely dry, clean and free from wax or grease. Stick skirt film for front left wheel arch C on the narrow edge of the skirt and run the blade over it.

Then carefully remove the backing film from skirt film for front left wheel arch C.

Align M Performance skirt film A flush with the rear wheel arch on the contour edge (1) of the M skirt and press into place. Hold M Performance skirt film A under slight tension and align with the front end of the contour edge (2) and press into place. As you do so, check that the upper edge of M Performance skirt film A ends at the contour edge (3) of the skirt, repeating the process if necessary. The front end of M Performance skirt film A must overhang the front edge (2).
