INTRODUCTION
WHS A management guide covers content for core competencies plus specifically selected electives for Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety and the Diploma of Work Health and Safety from the BSB07 (Business Services Training Package). The content of the textbook is designed to reflect the requirements of nationally accredited courses and industry and vocational requirements. At the time of publication, WHS courses were being nationally updated to reflect national harmonisation of WHS laws. The text book, VET instructor manual and powerpoint presentations have been written to reflect the new legislative and soon to be endorsed national course changes. Specifically, the new WHS courses (due for National endorsement in 2012) are as follows: Certificate III in Work Health and Safety Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety Diploma of Work Health and Safety

CERTIFICATE IV IN WORK HEALTH AND SAFETY

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the skills necessary for a WHS officer who works under the supervision of a WHS Coordinator or WHS Manager. At this level, it is expected that the individual may have limited responsibility for the leadership and guidance of others in the performance of WHS functions.

There are no entry requirements for this qualification

Pathways
Candidates may enter the qualification through a number of entry points including: Completion of Certificate III in Work Health and Safety or other relevant Certificate III qualification OR With extensive vocational experience in WHS roles.

DIPLOMA OF WORK HEALTH AND SAFETY

This qualification reflects the role of individuals required to coordinate and maintain the WHS programs of an organisation. At this level, individuals would possess a sound theoretical knowledge base and use a range of specialised technical or managerial competencies to plan, conduct and evaluate their own work and the work of others with WHS responsibilities.

Completion of a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or other relevant qualification(s) OR With extensive experience in providing WHS guidance to others but without formal qualifications.
