ESTABLISHED GOALS/ STANDARDS MSHS6-HS-2: Students will effectively communicate orally and in writing, applying knowledge of healthcare science communications. Transfer Students will be able to independently use their learning in new situations to CORRECTLY AND APPROPRIATELY USE DIGITAL MEDIA IN THE HEALTHCARE CLASSROOM. Meaning ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS: Students will explore & address these recurring questions: HOW DO I USE DIGITAL MATERIALS IN MY SCHOOL ASSIGNMENTS LEGALLY AND ETHICALLY? HOW DO I USE THE INTERNET SAFELY? HOW WOULD I SHARE PATIENT INFORMATION LEGALLY?

UNDERSTANDINGS Students will understand Copyright and fair use of digital materials. Risky online behaviors. Appropriate use of social media. Privacy rights of healthcare consumers.

Acquisition Students will know Students will be skilled at How to evaluate fair usage of online data. Evaluating online data for fair usage. How to cite original sources accurately. Correctly incorporating citations into school assignments and personal creations.

Evaluative Assessment Evidence Criteria Presentation CULMINATING PERFORMANCE TASK: Rubric Students will create a digital presentation based on one of the topics listed below. The presentation must include a digital image from the internet, writing from the internet, and a video from the internet. Each digital medium must be evaluated for fair usage and cited correctly in their presentation. 1. Hand hygiene for the middle school student 2. Basic sign language for the healthcare worker. 3. Common medical terms and abbreviations. 4. Overcoming communication barriers of the visually impaired patient

OTHER EVIDENCE: Students will answer questions and complete activities in the on-line module.
