This represents a 45 point net swing in Shannons favor since the race began. Republican primary voters in Oklahoma have really responded to Shannons campaigning, including the relentlessly upbeat, positive conservative-focused ads that have been run. Shannon now leads by double digits among key groups in a GOP primary:

Among base Republicans who are very conservative, Shannon leads 47%-28%. Among strong Tea Party supporters, Shannon leads 45%-29%. Religious conservatives back Shannon 44%-31%. Among voters whose top issue is stopping Obamacare, Shannon leads 42%30%. The issue of stopping Obamacare is the top priority among the GOP primary electorate.

James Lankford remains well-regarded by primary voters. Shannons improvement on the ballot has not come through any negative voter reaction to Lankford. The Bottom Line T.W. Shannon continues to show significant momentum in this primary, and his unique appeal to conservative primary voters has turned conventional wisdom about this campaign on its head. Methodology Public Opinion Strategies is pleased to present Oklahomans for a Conservative Future with the key findings of a telephone survey of likely Republican primary voters conducted statewide in Oklahoma. The survey was completed April 21-22, 2014 among 500 likely GOP primary voters, including 100 interviews with cell phone respondents, and has a margin of error of +4.38 in 95 out of 100 cases.
