To understand ort Channel# ort Group should be introduced first. ort Group is a group of ph1sical ports in the configuration le*el) onl1 ph1sical ports in the ort Group can ta"e part in lin" aggregation and become a member port of a ort Channel. <ogicall1# ort Group is not a port but a port se@uence. Fnder certain conditions# ph1sical ports in a ort Group perform port aggregation to form a ort Channel that has all the properties of a logical port# therefore it becomes an independent logical port. ort aggregation is a process of logical abstraction to abstract a set of ports 2port se@uence3 with the same properties to a logical port. ort Channel is a collection of ph1sical ports and used logicall1 as one ph1sical port. ort Channel can be used as a normal port b1 the user# and can not onl1 add networ"As bandwidth# but also pro*ide lin" bac"up. ort aggregation is usuall1 used when the switch is connected to routers# Cs or other switches.
