VFD Series AC Motor Drive, DVP Series PLC, ROE Series Rotary Optical Encoder fixed cutting length, fixed rolling speed, pull roller, PLC, AC motor drive

A sheet extrusion machine turns resin into flat sheets or plates of different thicknesses. The plastic material is then wound into rolls or cut flat into desired lengths. Deltas industrial automation products are used in the cutting process. Our PLC features a built-in high speed counter which can read open-collector type encoder signals. When these signals pass to the PLC, it begins calculating the cutting and stop positions. After configuring the output point and stop positions, the PLC sends the command to the AC motor drive to execute. By using Deltas industrial automation products, plastic materials are cut precisely into desire lengths and sizes. Application

Procedures: 1. Deltas servo motor controls the motion of the roller and an encoder provides feedback on the rolling status to the PLC. Once the PLC receives the analog data, it calculates the stop and cutting position of the plastic plates. The PLC output terminals control the cutting action and the PLC input terminals check the cutting status by setting an upper limit and lower limit switch. When the setting is complete, push the start button and the cutting machine begins continuous cutting. 2. One of the PLCs parameters, Parameter Proportional Value Calculation (SCLP) (API203), is for calculating the synchronous speed of the pull roller and winding roller. The calculation formula is shown as follows: a. Operands for (D) SCLP: S1 , S2 , D b. S1: Source value, S2: Parameter (occupies 4 registers), D: Destination device c. 16-bit instruction:

Maximum source value Minimum source value Maximum destination value Minimum destination value

Assume S1 = K500, max. source value D0 = 3,000, min. source value D1 = 200, max. destination value D2 = K500, and min. destination value D3 = 30. When X0 = On, the SCLP instructions execute and the proportional value at D10 is the result.

Equation: D10 = [(500 200) (500 30)] (3,000 200) + 30 = 80.35. (Round off the result into an integer D10= 80.)
3. Actual Practice: How do you write a simple program to control the two rollers at a synchronous speed? Assume AC motor drive 1 is performing at a rewinding speed of 10~50m/min and AC motor drive 2 is set for 0~1800 RPM at analog command K0~K4000. See the figure below:

Product Application
Delta Industrial Automation

AC motor drive 1 = rewinding speed (10~50 m/min)

Set AC motor drive 2 = analog command (0~1800rpm)

(1) Input source values into the following spaces: D8010 = Rewinding speed (10~50 m/min) D690 = Maximum source value of rewinding speed D8022 = Minimum source value of rewinding speed

(2) Input destination values into the following spaces: K0~K3996= Pulling speed of motor (rpm) K3996= Maximum destination value D8026= Minimum destination value

(3) When source values and destination values are set, Deltas PLC will perform a DSCLP command and calculate the synchronous speed of the pull roller and rewind roller. AC motor drives will then execute the rolling speed via PLC

Delta Industrial Automation analog command.

The Parameter Proportional Value Calculation function of the Delta PLC can calculate not only synchronous speed but also weight, pressure and more, which reduces the required PLC programming process. This function reduces the systems burden and increases responsiveness and can be widely applied to industrial automation control.
