Sustaining Our Water

By: Ansh K, Shoumik C, Connor W, Craig L, and David Z

Purpose
This project raises your awareness of water quality, water treatment, and responsible management of water resources around the world. We will explore the issue of safe water accessibility and discuss responsibilities of a global citizen to assure all people have safe drinking water. We will experiment with a natural water filtration process. We will review the water cycle and come to an understanding to sustain the quality of the world's water for the common good. We will write a "Safe Water" pledge and may choose to sign it indicating action you will personally take to assure sustainable, safe water. We will also create persuasive products to share your knowledge of issues around safe drinking water.

Objectives
Identify regions or countries around the world where the water is not safe for drinking (potable water). Some countries that don't have clean drinkable water are: Africa, Haiti, India, and many more. Define philanthropy and its relationship to global citizenship. Philanthropy An act or gift done or made for humanitarian purposes Reflect on their individual global responsibility. We took an oath to be more careful to not waste water. Define environmental stewardship as the careful and responsible management of our environment. duties, and obligations towards water. Identify the stages of the water treatment process. Aeration, Flash Mixing, flocculation, Settling, and filtration. Review the water cycle. The Earth is the water planet. Between two-thirds and three-fourths of its surface is water. Oceans supply the most water, but it also can be found in ponds, rivers, in clouds, and in lakes. Communicate with others about the environmental cost of polluted water.

Lesson 1 : Dirty Water

In this lesson, we talked to younger group of individuals about Dirty Water and how other countries do not have access to clean drinking water.

Lesson 2 : Water Purification

In this lesson, we raised the awareness of water purification to about 90 6th graders by telling them about the struggles and how over 70% of people in third world countries do not have access to clean, purified water. We told them about how millions of people each day struggle to get just a drop of what we all take for granted-water. By thoroughly educating them on water conservation and how we can get water to third world countries. Also, we broadened their

knowledge and education on water aware

Lesson 3 : Who is Responsible for Clean Water?

In this lesson, our group created a pledge about sustaining and preserving clean drinking water and to ensure that everyone in our community has access to clean drinking water. We had people in our community who believed in our pledge sign it.
