Assistance Program (VNMAP) 2010 Mission Information Application out: Oct. 30th, 2009 Application due: Dec. 20th, 2009 About VNMAP Is an official 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on serving the Vietnamese community in heath care both in Viet Nam and in the U.S. Founded in 2007 by a group of professional and college students Currently has members in 9 medical schools and colleges in the U.S. has organized three successful medical missions to Viet Nam VNMAP’s Mission Address the healthcare disparity of the poor in Viet Nam through medical relief effort and medical education Support the local Vietnamese community in the States in health care Enhance the knowledge of healthcare professionals, students, and members in leadership, international medicine, public health and health system in Viet Nam Service Aspect of VNMAP in our Medical Mission Provide Medical Care and Medicine to the poor Conduct Health Education Programs to offer basic knowledge to local residents in health protection and disease prevention Provide Medical Care Health Education Programs Education and Training Aspect of VNMAP Enrich the medical education of students Interact with patients Exchange information with local doctors Enhance participants' background knowledge on health assessment through our health survey Learn about health system in Viet Nam and enrich the cultural experience Understanding and respecting a patient's culture can help physicians gain their patients' trust. VNMAP focuses on providing medical students an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in facing health problems in a developing country VNMAP creates a training and learning environment for professional students and volunteers to improve leadership skills and to explore the meaning of medical mission works VNMAP helps build a network between professionals and students in the U.S. and in Viet Nam VNMAP Mission 2007 • The medical mission was a pilot project that was organized by a group of students from different schools including JHMI, PCOM, Drexel’s College of Medicine, and UMCP. • The mission was from June 18 to June 30 and the destination was Dien Khanh hospital in Khanh Hoa Province. VNMAP Mission 2007 VNMAP Mission 2008 The 2nd medical mission was organized by students from different schools including PCOM, UT, GMU, UVA, and UMCP. The mission was from June 16 to July 1 in various clinics in Khanh Hoa Province, Lam Dong Province, and Ho Chi Minh City VNMAP Mission 2008 VNMAP Mission 2009 The 3rd medical mission to Duc Trong and Lam Ha Districts in Lam Dong Province There are students from PCOM, JHMI, UMB, VCU, UMCP, UMDNJ, Georgetown Uni. The mission trip from June 15th, to June 30th, 2009 VNMAP Mission 2009 Fostering good relations Compassion Medical Mission 2010 Where and When: Southern Regions, Viet Nam June 14th – June 29th, 2009 A qualified VNMAP team member will Share common goals with VNMAP program Commit 2-3 hours/week to do team work Embrace the team spirit Consider him/herself both as a good leader and as an enthusiastic follower Be self-motivated and open-minded to learn and share Fulfill VNMAP activity requirements as stated in the application VNMAP Student Application

Our target team will include 3 physicians,
2 pharmacists, 8 medical students and 7 volunteers. Funding for the mission VNMAP will be responsible to provide medicine and medical supplies and donation for charity organization during the mission trip All members will be responsible for a round-trip airplane ticket to Viet Nam VNMAP will offer scholarships to cover in- country travel for team members who demonstrate strong commitment and leadership to enhance VNMAP’s mission and vision VNMAP will provide fundraising ideas and support its members to fundraise for their travel What if you cannot join us this year but want to help?
