OUR LADY OF VICTORY CHURCH

April 12-13, 2014

Celebrate Gods Greatest Attribute On DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY Sunday, April 27, 2014 At Our Lady of Victory Church 3:00-4:00p in Church
This special celebration is being offered this year to honor the Canonization of two great Popes, John Paul II and John XXIII, which also falls on Divine Mercy Sunday.

How should we prepare for this great Feast of Mercy?

Jesus told St. Faustina that this Feast of Mercy would be a very special day when "all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened". (Diary 699) Our Lord made a great promise to all those souls who would go to Confession and then receive Him in Holy Communion on the Feast of Mercy, on the Sunday after Easter, which is now called Divine Mercy Sunday throughout the Catholic Church. Jesus promised that "The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain the complete forgiveness of sins and punishment."(Diary 699) He went on to say "I want to grant a complete pardon to the souls that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion on the Feast of My Mercy." (Diary 1109) We want to encourage everyone to take advantage of this incredible promise and the additional Plenary Indulgence on this great Feast of Mercy "Divine Mercy Sunday". We want you to benefit fully from these promises, and we also want you to notify all of your family and friends about them too and urge them to return to the practice of their faith! The Image of The Divine Mercy, which Our Lord requested to be solemnly blessed and venerated on this day, will be on display in our church. Pope John Paul II said that the image portrays the Risen Jesus Christ bringing Mercy to the whole world. Our Lord said "I want the image to be solemnly blessed on the first Sunday after Easter, and I want it to be venerated publicly so that every soul may know about it. I promise that the soul that will venerate this image will not perish". (Diary 341, 48) Please take the time to visit with this Image of The Divine Mercy and venerate Jesus. Jesus said to St. Faustina "I am offering people a vessel with which they are to keep coming for graces to the fountain of mercy. That vessel is this image with the signature: Jesus, I trust in You". (Diary 327) "The two rays denote Blood and Water. The pale ray stands for the Water which makes souls righteous. The red ray stands for the Blood which is the life of souls. These two rays issued forth from the very depths of My tender mercy when My agonized Heart was opened by a lance on the cross. Happy is the one who will dwell in their shelter, for the just hand of God shall not lay hold of him." (Diary 299) It is required of all Catholics to confess their serious sins at least once every year. If you havent yet met this obligation then take advantage of this outstanding opportunity to receive an outpouring of an ocean of graces that Jesus promises on this day. Those who have already confessed their sins should make room for others. The Church allows for one to go to Confession for up to about 20 days, before or after Divine Mercy Sunday.

There will be Divine Mercy Chaplet and Novena booklets available in the Church gathering space starting Palm Sunday. If you wish to do the Novena it should be begun on Good Friday. All are welcome to join us on April

27th for Veneration of the Divine Mercy Image, Adoration and Confessions.

April is Autism Awareness Month

A Prayer of St. Francis for Autism by Tim Tucker Lord, let thy peace fill me up until I overflow; that where people cannot speak, I may be their advocate; that where anyone is rejected, I may extend my arms in welcome; that where parents are heavy burdened, I may offer a word of comfort; that where our children struggle, I may lift them up and cheer; that where some see disability, I may reveal to them extraordinary gifts; that where others judge, I may share with them my deep gladness; and that where any are overlooked, I may help the lights of all to shine. O Giver of These Gifts, grant that I may not so much seek to be reassured as to reassure; to be praised, as to praise; to be accepted, as to accept; for it is in all our uncertainty that we are inspired to hope; it is in great challenges that we discover our greatest joys, and it is in our community of wanderers that we find the way home. Amen.

SPECIAL MUSIC FOR EASTER During the 9:30 and 11:30a masses, a brass quartet and timpani will accompany our singing. During the 11:30a mass, the choir will sing Handel's "Hallelujah" chorus. Carol Ann will play a majestic organ piece (Widor's "Toccata") after all masses.

ON PALM SUNDAY ~ PAUSE, REFLECT, PRAY Palm Sunday

by Kay Hoffman
They waved palm branches as He passed And hailed Him as their King; Yet, they knew not of the sorrow The coming week would bring. The glad acclaim would soon give way To jeers and mockery; In Pilate's court He'd be condemned To a cross on Calvary. But Jesus knew He was the price In God's redemptive plan, The Sacrificial Lamb come down To die for sins of man. The centuries have passed and still He seeks those lost in sin, Pleading with unyielding hearts To repent and follow Him. On this day we shout our praise, O, let us not delay; The palm-strewn path of long ago Still leads to Him today.

A prayer for Palm Sunday

On this day of great rejoicing, Lord Jesus Christ, when we welcome You as our King and Savior, we also walk in the shadow of Your cross. Hosanna! we cry. Blessed are You who come in Gods name to save us. Hosanna! Strengthen our faith on this Palm Sunday so that when the time comes to carry the cross we might still call out to You with heartfelt praise. Give us the grace and the courage to follow You this Holy Week from death to resurrection, from darkness to the fullness of light. We need You, Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior, our Redeemer. Hosanna!
