Medha Patkar (born 1 December 1954) is an Indian social activist and social reformer turned politician.

She is the founder member of Narmada Bachao Andolan and was National Convener of National Alliance of People's Movements (NAPM), an alliance of progressive peoples organisations.[1] She was a representative to the World Commission on Dams, to research the environmental, social and economic impacts of the development of large dams globally.[2] She has also filed a public interest petition in the Bombay High Court against Lavasa along with other members of National Alliance of People's Movements (NAPM), includingAnna Hazare.[3] Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has announced her as party's candidate for North East, Mumbai for Loksabha elections 2014.[4]

Sunderlal Bahuguna (born 9 January 1927) is a noted Garhwalienvironmentalist, Chipko movement leader and a follower of Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy of Non-violence and Satyagraha. This idea of chipko movement was of his wife and the action was taken by him. For years he has been fighting for the preservation of forests in the Himalayas, first as a member of the Chipko movement in [3] 1970s, and later spearheaded the Anti-Tehri Dam movement starting 1980s, to early 2004. He was [4] one of the early environmentalists of India, and later he and people associated with the Chipko movement later started taking up environmental issues, like against large dams, mining and [5] deforestation, across the country.india pays him a tribute for his contribution for the trees.

Rajendra Kumar Pachauri (born 20 August 1940) has been serving as the chairperson of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) since 2002, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007[2][3] during his tenure. He has also been the director general of TERI, a research and policy organization in India, and chancellor of TERI University; besides being the chairman of the governing council of the National Agro Foundation (NAF), as well as the chairman of the board of Columbia University's International Research Institute for Climate and Society. Pachauri has been outspoken about climate change. He has been appointed as Senior Adviser to Yale Climate and Energy Institute (YCEI) from July 2012 prior to which he was the Founding Director of YCEI (July 2009 June 2012).
