Overview

Installing WSUS
In this exercise, you use Server Manager to install WSUS. Because this is a test environment, you use the standard internal database that comes with Windows. 10 minutes

Overview

Configuring WSUS
After you install WSUS, you must configure WSUS so that it retrieves updates from Microsoft or another WSUS server. You also need to configure WSUS on what updates need to be downloaded and when the downloads should occur. 20 minutes

Mindset Question:

After the WSUS server has been installed, it needs to be configured so that it knows where to get the updates from and what to download. If you were getting updates from the Windows Update, what would you need to configure, similarly as you configure Internet Explorer to access the Microsoft Update website?

Exercise 2.3
Overview

Configuring Clients
For a client to get updates from a WSUS, the client has to be configured to get updates from WSUS. Therefore, during this exercise, you use group policies to configure Server02 to get updates from Server01. 5 minutes

Mindset Question:

You have hundreds of clients that need to get Windows updates. Rather than configure each computer one-by-one, what would be the easiest way to configure all of the computers so that the computers will get the Windows updates that you specify?

If you dont use group policies to configure clients to use WSUS, how would you configure the system?
