LAUNCHING SCHEME NOTES FOR AN 18.288m (6 BAY) SINGLE SPAN BRIDGE DSH CONSTRUCTION with a 7.35m WIDE TWO LANE ROADWAY These launching scheme notes should be read in conjunction with the following: All pages in this chapter, paying particular attention to the launching scheme drawing and the launching information table. The general information given in Section 1 of this manual. The component assembly details and the bridge erection and installation procedures given in the Compact 200 Construction Manual.

Preliminary: Set out the launching, landing and construction rollers on the same line and level as indicated in the launching scheme drawing. Stage 1 Build Bay 1 (nose bay) in SSHT construction. Build Bays 2 to 4 inclusive (nose bays) in SSH construction. Build Bays 5 and 6 (undecked bridge bays) in DSH construction. Build Bay 7 (decked bridge bay) in DSH construction. Insert Launching Links into the bottom chords between Bays 1 & 2, then fit Swaybraces with Extensions into Bay 2, before commencing Stage 2. Stage 2 Move the structure forward by 2 bay lengths. Build Bays 8 and 9 (decked bridge bays) in DSH construction, temporarily omitting the Bracing Frames from Bay 9 which have been borrowed for Bay 5 during launching. Stage 3 Move the structure forward by 1 bay lengths. Build Bay 10 (decked bridge bay) in DSH construction. Place 14 additional Deck Units onto Bay 10 to act as counterweight. Stage 4 Move the bridge forward by 6 bay lengths over the remainder of the gap until it is situated directly above its final bearing position. (Note that nose bays 1 to 3 inclusive may be dismantled as they come one bay clear of the landing rollers if necessary). Stage 5 Remove the counterweight and lower the bridge onto its bearings using 2 jacks at each end of the bridge alternately, relocating all borrowed components and fitting all remaining bridge components as appropriate during this process. Finally, fit all remaining decking.
