Introduction
irresistible charm
The Datejust Special Edition, which features the famous calendar with Cyclops lens for easy reading, has a 34 mm case with gracious soft lines and is fitted with an exquisitely rounded Pearlmaster bracelet. The wider bezel lends itself ideally to being gem-set. On some models precious stones pave the dials or appear on the case lugs and bracelet links.
Style
dream dials
The Datejust Special Edition is graced with the most precious dials: white, pink or black mother-of-pearl, along with delicate Roman numerals in gold, or diamond-set hour-markers. Exclusive to this model, the Goldust Dream dials are created by a Rolex-patented process that combines mother-of-pearl and gold dust to produce enchanting motifs, making each reading of the time a pure delight.
Style
gem setting
Gem-setters, like sculptors, finely carve the precious metal to hand-shape the seat in which each gemstone will be perfectly lodged. With the art and craft of a jeweller, the stone is placed and meticulously aligned with the others, then firmly secured in its gold or platinum setting. Besides the intrinsic quality of the stones, several other criteria contribute to the beauty of Rolex gem-setting: the precise alignment of the height of the gems, their orientation and position, the regularity, strength and proportions of the setting as well as the intricate finishing of the metalwork. A sparkling symphony to enhance the watch and enchant the wearer.

rolex gems
Rolex uses only the finest rubies, sapphires and emeralds to adorn its watches, and employs exceptionally demanding selection criteria. Each stone is meticulously examined by the in-house gemmologists for quality and authenticity. Since these coloured gemstones form naturally in the earth in a varied palette of colours, they are sorted by hand, stone by stone, to ensure that all the gems on a given watch are of the same hue. At Rolex, time and precision are ingredients of beauty.

2235 movement
Calibre 2235 is a self-winding mechanical movement, a self-winding mechanical movement entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex. Like all Rolex Perpetual movements, the 2235 is a certified Swiss chronometer, a designation reserved for high-precision watches that have successfully passed the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) tests. Its architecture, in common with all Oyster watch movements, makes it singularly reliable.

Features
The four simple words Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified on a Rolex watch dial mean that the very movement inside the timepiece has endured 15 days and nights of testing by COSC (Contrle Officiel Suisse des Chronomtres Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute), an independent notfor-profit association. To receive COSC certification as a Swiss chronometer, a watch must demonstrate extreme precision in a variety of positions and temperatures. Rolex is unique in the industry: this is the standard level of quality required of every Rolex wristwatch movement.
