Frequently Asked Questions Volunteering at the Sydney Royal Easter Show

Availability Start Time will vary, on the application form we ask what your availability is. We will then schedule against a shift that fits within that time period, e.g. 9am-5pm, you may be allocated to 11am-5pm shift one day and a 9am-3pm shift the next! We do have a shift which commences at 8:00am but they are limited. Interview Please allow about an hour for the interview, during this time we check ID, try on the uniform for correct fit and conduct the interview. The interview itself is approximately 15 minutes, it is a one on one, we are assessing your suitability for the program and you get to assess if we are the volunteering opportunity for you! Will I be standing for 6hrs? No, during your shift you will be rotated thru roles and have access to a short break and a longer meal break. However, the opportunity to sit is limited, if you have any issues please ensure you note these on your application! Volunteering at the Show requires a level of fitness as walking and standing are involved in all roles. What does Accreditation mean? Accreditation is your access to the Show and non-public areas; the Volunteer Green Room is one area that you can only access with your Volunteer Accreditation. Accreditation is your ticket into the Show, access to transportation and must be worn at all times when you are Volunteering. Uniform You will have an opportunity to try a shirt on at interview this will ensure that you have the correct size. We have shirts from small to 5XL. We recommend that your wear black, navy or beige/fawn trousers as they look the best with the green! Yes, you can wear a skirt or shorts as long as they are below the knee. The following are not accepted, tracksuit pants, jeans, leg-ins, tights, shorts or skirts that are above the knee. Shoes Closed in shoes must be worn, please ensure that they are comfortable and broken in! We dont want you to go home on the first day with blisters! High heel are not recommended!

Induction Induction will run for approximately 4 hours and will cover where to sign on and off, meeting points, roles and information about the Show. Work Health & Safety Once accepted into the program you will be issued with a WH&S password and you will need to complete a site specific WH&S induction online. Team Leaders If you have questions, looking for hints and tips ask your Team Leader! You are never on your own, new volunteers are assigned to shifts with returning volunteers! Team Leaders are volunteers who have lived our values consistently; passion, teamwork, integrity, empowerment, respect and commitment! The Team Leader will rotate Volunteers through roles, provide you with your meal voucher and is the go to person for any questions that you have. What is the VAC? The VAC is the Volunteer Administration Centre, command central. What is a Green Room? A Green Room is the term the entertainment industry uses for a break room.
