DEENBANDHU CHHOTU RAM UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, MURTHAL SCHEME OF GRADING SYSTEM (I TO VI SEMESTERS) MASTER OF TECHNOLOGY WEEKEND COURSE IN ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING
The grade awarded to a student in any particular course will be based on his/ her performance in class work, attendance, seasonal tests, tutorial tests, home assignments, laboratory work, viva-voce examination, main examination, etc. The letter grades that can be awarded & their equivalent grade point are listed below: Grade Grade Points Description of Performance A(+) 10 Outstanding A 9 Excellent B(+) 8 Very Good B 7 Good C(+) 6 Average C 5 Below Average D 4 Marginal F 0 Very poor G Absent AP Audit Pass AF Audit Fail X Incomplete Process of Evaluation: The performance of the student will be evaluated in terms of cumulative grade point average ( CGPA) which is the grade point average for all the completed semesters at any point of time. The CGPA id calculated on the basisi of all pass grades, except audit courses, obtained in all completed semsters, provided that there are no F,G,AF,X grades. (N u m ber of Cred its x Grad e Points) for cou rses w ith pass grad e except aud it cou rses. SGPA = -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------(N u m ber of Credits) for courses with pass grades except audit courses. Note: SGPA will be calculated for each semester individually. CGPA will be calculated by taking average of SGPA of both the semesters in academic year. Pass Grade is Grade D and higher grades. Grade F is fail Grade. `F Grade: The F grade denotes poor performance, i.e. failing a subject (or subject component).A student has to reappear in the sem. Exam only in which he/she obtains `F grade, until a passing grade is obtained, within a stipulated time of completion of that program as mentioned in the ordinance. For the elective sub in which f grades have been obtained, the students may take the same course or any other course from the same category/group. The candidate will be allowed to take up the exam next time along with regular students but he/she will be awarded up to B+ only. The same principle will be applicable to project also. G grade: If any stu d ent w ho is otherw ise eligible for appearing in sem ester exam ination as per ord inance, bu t he/ she is u nable to appear in the sem ester exam than he/ she w ill be aw ard ed G grad e. The cand id ate w ill be allow ed to take up the exam next tim e along w ith regu lar stu d ents and he/ she w ill be aw ard ed the grad e as per grad e system explained above and the restriction of aw ard ing a m axim u m of B+ grad e w ill not be applicable in his/ her case. The sam e principle will be applicable to the project also. AP/AF Grade: These grad es are aw ard ed to qualifying/ non cred it su bjects ( as per schem e su pplied by the department). The candidate will not be eligible for the award of the degree without qualifying theses courses. Continu ou s absence: If a stu d ent is continuous absent from the d epartm ent for m ore than fou r w eeks w ithou t intimation to the chairperson of the d epartm ent, his/ her name w ill be struck of from the roll of the d epartm ent. The read m ission shall not be allowed to the candidate during the same academic session. X Grade: This grad e is awarded for incom plete project w ork/ dissertation as per guid elines given below and w ill be converted to a regular grade on the completion of the project work and its evaluation. A stu d ent w ho is u nable to complete his/ her project/ dissertation may be aw ard ed an X grad e by the chairman/ chairperson on the recom m end ation of his/ her su pervisor. Stu d ent w ho has been awarded X grad e shall be required to formally register for the next semester and pay the requisite fees.
