Logos
Description
Create Three logo variations for the same company

Design Process

I first used my familys cattle brand from a picture and traced it using the pen tool. I made four boxes with different colors to represent services and tried applying them to the first and third logo. For the second logo I wanted to keep it simple with just our S6 brand, but put the LLC. there to represent that its a company. I also used a gradient for it to add colors that my family wanted.

Project Objectives

The objective for this project was two-fold. We had to become familiar with Adobe Illistrator by learning how to use the pen tool and create meaningful designs that reflected a single company. We also had to use a different color scheme for each logo and ensure they were all completely different designs.

Letterhead
Description
Matching letterhead and business card designed using a personally created logo.

Design Process

I first used a picture of a climning 8 and traced it with the pencil in Illistrator then I added text with a made up company for the complete logo. I positioned it in Indesign on the left of the paper and added my contact information below so that it gave the alignment with future body copy. I used analogous colors of red, orange, and brick for a southwest feel because it is located outside of Utah.

Business Card
Description
Matching letterhead and business card designed using a personally created logo.

Design Process

I used the rectangle tool and pen tool to create the front and back outline of my business card. I then copied/pasted the logo and contact information onto this page. I kept the logo type and used the eight symbol with the same colors for the front of the back of the card putting the contact information about the same size as the information on the letterhead. Finally, I enlarged the eight and put it on the back of the business card with the same typography that I had for the logo.

Flier
Description
Black & White promotional flier to promote a graduate leadership conference.

Design Process

I wanted to create a more unique look that would catch the eye so I used rectangles turned at a 45 degree angle in an Argyle design for unity. I also changed their colors to black and gray to create contrast against the whitespace. I created the layout with a S flow throughout the flier to easily read. I emphasized my title by putting the first word in script and bringing out the main idea of the flier. I was given the image, logo, and content for this flier.

Imaging
Description
Demonstrate good photography and image editing skills. Incorporating color into a poster layout with original photo.

Design Process

I then brought the photo into Photoshop and used these specific editing techniques: levels, sharpness, saturation, and color balance to edit the photo. Then I designed an 8.511 layout that including my photo, text, and design elements. I incorporated my color scheme into the swatches and used a gradient with a mask to create the speckled look of snow. I used the eye dropper tool and adjusted the color in the color picker to match a little more accurately for the swatches. I also put a shadow on the title by using the text fixation tool to make it pop out more.

Webpage
Description
Create a web page designed to showcase a personally created logo.

Design Process
I created this web page using TextWrangler. After I marked up all my content and inserted my image/logo, I attached a pre-made CSS document to my HTML. I then used the colors from my logo as the colors for my web page heading background and text body background. I found these colors by opening Photoshop and using the eyedropper tool. I also changed my fonts to Times New Roman and Verdana. I added padding for the text so that they would not be too close to the edge of the web page. I also brought in an image from Pinterest for my background to support the logo/business.

Montage
Description
An inspirational montage made by the blending of two images, and the use of typography.

Design Process

I found a great quote from Clint Eastwood so I wanted to incorporate a design about it. I found a image off Google and brought in a couple from Pinterest. I cropped the lightning image down for the background and used the lasso tool to move the couple onto the background. I painted away the hard edges on the couple with a masking tool and opacity of 45%. I blurred the background with a texture tool and used the mask again to uncover the lighting bolts so they would pop out more. I added the text and put effects on them with drop shadow and brightener.

A color full-bleed event ad to promote a fundraiser using Microsoft Word and a scanner. I scanned the bread image, and then used a Word image effect to delete most of the background for the effect of just a couple slices of bread. I then brought in the logo for Great Harvest Bread Co. and cropped out the background as well as putting an outline with the same blue around it to give it a clean look. I wanted the theme to resemble the Great Harvest feel and colors so I put two bars, bottom and top across the page with a gradient to match the logos design colors. I made the love in the title the same color as the windmill in the logo as well. I made the type in the same blue as the logo for consistency. Created Microsoft Word, Epson Scanner, PDF2JPG.net (PDF converter)

Project Objectives

The objective for this project was to create an appealing ad to promote attention to a charity cause only using Microsoft Word, but still using design principles.

Business Card #2
Description
Extra Project business card designed using a personally created logo.

Design Process

I had my picture taken professionaly by Paige Nelson Photography. I then took the picture into Photoshop and edited it by putting in in black and white with a filter over it giving it a grainy look. I then choose a font for my intials and the other text with effects such as drop shadow and outer glow. I created many layers because I extended the original picture to make the building fit the card and so I had to copy over the window. I added a cloudy white to it so it covered up the hard lines and to make it look unique. I placed the pictures in Indesign with a formated 2X3.5 in box.
