PREFACE
International trade of Vietnam has grown dramatically in the past 15 years since opening, integration with the world economy, especially after Vietnam became a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO). Along with economic growth of about 8%, regular year's growth rate of exports and imports about from 20% to 25% a year. Goods trade grew quickly, and which are mainly transported by sea (about 80% of the total volume of goods transported) is the important prerequisite for the development of maritime transport, and maritime services of VN With 3,200 km coastline, more than 90 ports are allocated in all three regions. Vietnam is blessed for the development of sea transport. Along with the rapid growth of international trade has accelerated the development of maritime services including terminal operators, warehouse, transportation and logistics services in the past 15 years. In Haiphong port which plays a crucial role in the development that is "gate" the most important exchanges North Country. Haiphong Port is the largest port; the flow of goods through is the largest in northern Vietnam. Port is equipped with modern equipment and adequate infrastructure, consistent with the mode of transport, international trade. Haiphong port consists of three areas: Hoang Dieu (The Central Port), Chua Ve Port and Tan Cang (Port of Dinh Vu) ... and a warehouse system: the container yard, warehouse.... Under the guidance of enthusiastic teachers guide and the help of the staff working at the port of Haiphong has helped me gain some documents to write this report. I express my sincerest gratitude to Mr. Le Quoc Tien, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, Mr. Vu Le Huy, for their valuable guidance throughout the internship. 2.4 The advantages and difficulties of Haiphong port the Advantages: Haiphong Port is the largest port in the north, have a long development history, have a great reputation all over the country, and have good management team, skilled workers. Infrastructure, facilities and equipment are new investment to promote efficiency in time to meet the growth rate of goods and improve competitiveness in the context of the economy fluctuation. Northern economic strong growth has a positive impact on growth made goods through the port. Haiphong port has collaborated closely with the governance agencies in Port reform administrative procedures and settlement procedures as quick, convenient, timely communications. Haiphong Port always attracts the concern of the State, ministries, and Haiphong city, the assistance of the authorities, with the cooperation of the client. Information technology systems are modern and standards in container terminals, system software management and container extraction Difficulties

The major difficulty encountered is the ship channel were shallow and large alluvial, the annual cost for this is huge. Ships with a tonnage of 10,000 DWT or more cannot conveniently access to the port. Haiphong Port must handling from Halong Bay. Turning basin is restricted, unstable transmission areas significantly affect activities of the port business Volume of goods via Port is unstable making difficult for business production processes Electricity prices, higher fuel affect the formulation of price plans. High material costs led to increased freight rates, reducing the attractiveness to customers, difficult for the competition

16

The volatility of the economy, unpredictable market, inflation, cost of fuel and materials, equipment, petroleum, iron and steel high rise has increased production costs, investment costs and slow progress of investment projects, creating limited competitiveness. Some of the cargo handling equipment is outdated, low efficiency; the cost of repair is too big.

Revenue growth over the year were positive, 6-year average growth reached 117%. Overall, the growth rate of the ports in ascending years by years, but the growth rate is not high.

17

Reasons: Haiphong port have faced the competition from new ports such as the port of Cai Lan, , Green Port in recent year. However, the port has achieved its objectives, and revenue next year is higher than last year due to production of goods through the port of rising up days by days. Though, port has to decrease rates to compete, but these items bring high revenue for the port still remained rates and increased yields. Analysis of each component of Haiphong port revenues can see: Revenues from handling: includes revenues from the handling, loading and unloading goods on the ship. Revenues from inventory: including costs of warehousing, forwarding, scaling service fees, service fees, other agents fees Revenues from support activities: Tug assistance and maritime salvages to ocean vessels, security

4 CHAPTER 4: CONCLUSION
For developing the port in the next time to meet the needs of growing national economy growing we need to take measures. On the basis of the assessment, the current capacity analysis and forecast for future development. Based the assessment, analysis of current capacity and forecast for future development. I propose the recommendations for the development of the port of Haiphong in future. Haiphong port with economic characteristics is located in an important gateway to northern Viet Nam. Port was construction and development associated with the development of Haiphong City, up to now the port has been still the largest port in northern Viet Nam. However, Haiphong port still faces many disadvantages that need to be solved to meet the needs of rising cargo through the port. In the coming years, the port needs to propose the methods to remove constraints, efficient production. In terms of macro scope, regulations and trade policy need to be innovated to promote exports. Focusing on investing dredging to improve channel depth, creating conditions for large vessels can access to port. Innovative facilities, focusing on specialized production. Renovate production process. Using application of information technology to minimize procedures, enhance performance Port should adjust and flexible application rates based on calculating the cost of some goods. Improve the quality of service, increase productivity especially in handling container cargoes. Cost savings, increased efficiency, performance of vehicles, warehousing, labor... Focusing on business marketing, capturing market segments, proposing solutions to competitive and maintain market share

The above is the entire contents of my report. Due to the short time, so my report has many mistakes. I look forward to the feedback from teachers. I sincerely thank teachers who helped me complete this report and Haiphong port Ltd Company.
