This included the manufacturing of equipment by local firms and organisations. * Managed the work scheduling section at Lethabo. Merchant Navy Was a Marine Engineer Officer on various cargo vessels and oil tankers. He gained more experience on Steam boilers, Turbines and Generator sets. The auxillary plant included fresh water evaporators, condensers diesel generators, large and small bore pumps, centrifuges and seperators. He sailed both on steam and diesel driven vessels. This experience added to his training obtained at Congella Power Station. During this period he gained a vast knowledge of engineering, as it was prior to the shipping industry changing from Steam to Diesel driven vessels. South African
