Upon completion of the course, students are able to:
1. Describe and comprehend the concept of contemporary issues in the Quran and Hadith
in Islamic education and their application to contemporary issues. (C2, P1, A1)
2. Discuss the methodologies in appraoching contemporary issues. (C4, P4, A3)
3. Identify the contemporary issues in Islamic education. (C3, P4, A2)
4. Relate the textual studies of Quran and Hadith in Islamic education with daily life. (C3,
P3, A4)

Mixed method between teacher-centred and student-centred. Continuous assessment.

Synopsis:
This course focuses on contemporary issues in the Quran and Hadith. The purpose of hte
course is to prepare students for the challenges that they are going to face in the contemporary
world concerning some of the practices of their religion and the questions that they are likely to
face in their daily life. The course helps the students to answer some of the serious issues of the
contemporary time such as politics, law, women and jihad all of which are derived from the
Quran and Hadith but which principles differ from the contemporary view about these issues.
Thus, it is hoped that students taking this course will develop the research ability and
methodology to be able to project and answer convincingly and reasonably these questions and
the stand of the Quran and Hadith on them.

Coursework (Mid-semester examination 20%, assignment (30%) and presentation (10%)
