TOPIC: Storage Devevices & Memory


SUB TOPIC: Primary and Secondary Storage.
: Installing RAM and Hard disk.
LESSON OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lecture the student able to:
Define what is Storage Devices.
List down classification Storage devices.
Define Primary Storage (RAM & ROM).
Define Secondary Storage/ Backing Storage.
Name at least 3 storage devices of parts of computer.
State ONE function of at least THREE storage devices of parts of computer.
Remove and Install storage devices such as Hard disk into the system unit.
Remove and Install memory (Random Access Memory).
Apply proper Safety procedures when removing and installing devices.

METHODOLOGY

Tasks given

Introduction (5 mins)
Teacher will story tell about computer fast and slow.
Teacher will introduce todays lesson on Storage Devices and then the objectives of the lesson that needs to be
achieved.
1. What do you understand about storage devices? What do they do?
2. Have you ever use secondary storage devices before? If yes, can you mention the devices that you use.
3. Have you ever replaced devices from the computer e.g memory and hard disk.
Teacher ask student the above questions and after that teacher show physical examples of storage devices.
Lesson Development
Part 1 (25 mins)
Teacher will ask the student to use the computer and go to comptechnician.weebly.com
Teacher shows various video of computer techcian task such as installing memory and replacing hard disk.
Teacher use power points slides for teaching.
Teacher explains the term computer devices.
Teacher show pictures of Storage devices includes memory
Compare and contrast of the various storage devices in terms of capacity, speed, price.
Part 2 (20 mins)
Teacher gives various level of excercises to the students.
Easy excercises must be completed by all students
Individual activity Student will do excercise individually and discuss the answer with the teacher after that
Student who finish easy excercise than proceed to Medium excercise.
Group activity - student will be divided into 3 group, they will discuss among themself and present the answer
Challenging excercise.
Individual Test
Closure ( 5 mins)
Recap of what the student have learned today By asking questions about the lesson.
Tell the student to read and prepare for next class on next topic
